About the Role
We're looking for a passionate and experienced
Ruby on Rails Engineer
to join our growing product engineering team. This is a hands-on development role where you'll work on building reliable, scalable, and performance-oriented backend systems. As part of a product-first company, you'll have the opportunity to shape features from the ground up and take ownership of your code from design to deployment.
You will be involved in building robust APIs, designing efficient data models, and integrating with external services, all while contributing to a clean and maintainable codebase. Key Responsibilities
Develop and maintain backend services
using
Ruby on Rails
, ensuring code quality, performance, and scalability.
Design and implement RESTful APIs
that interface seamlessly with frontend and third-party systems.
Work closely with
product managers, designers, and frontend engineers
to translate requirements into technical specifications.
Write and optimize
SQL queries
to interact efficiently with large datasets, ensuring data integrity and performance.
Implement unit, integration, and performance tests to maintain high system reliability.
Participate in
code reviews
, share knowledge, and uphold engineering best practices.




Troubleshoot and debug complex backend issues quickly and effectively.
Contribute to
architectural decisions
and help improve the overall system design.
(Bonus) Deploy, monitor, and maintain services using
AWS cloud infrastructure
, ensuring high availability and scalability.
What We're Looking For
3+ years of professional experience
working with
Ruby on Rails
in a production environment.
Strong command of
SQL
— you should be comfortable writing complex queries, optimizing performance, and designing efficient schemas.
Solid understanding of web application architecture, security practices, and RESTful service design.
Experience in working with tools such as
PostgreSQL
,
Redis
,
Sidekiq
, or similar.
Familiarity with
Git
, CI/CD pipelines, and agile development workflows.
Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate across teams.
A proactive and ownership-driven mindset — you care about shipping high-quality code and continuously improving the product.
Bonus
: Exposure to
AWS
services (such as EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda) or DevOps experience is a plus.
