Job Summary

The Quality Head is responsible for leading the quality assurance and quality control functions in a sheet metal manufacturing facility. This role ensures that products meet customer specifications, industry standards, and regulatory requirements while driving continuous improvement, reducing defects, and enhancing customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

- Develop, implement, and maintain the Quality Management System (QMS) in compliance with ISO 9001 and customer-specific requirements.
- Lead quality assurance and quality control activities across incoming, in-process, and final inspections.
- Establish quality objectives, KPIs, and improvement plans to achieve business goals.
- Ensure compliance with customer specifications, engineering drawings, and quality standards.
- Lead root cause analysis using tools such as 8D, 5 Why, Fishbone Diagram, and CAPA.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and Kaizen methodologies.
- Manage customer complaints, warranty issues, and corrective/preventive actions.
- Conduct internal audits and coordinate external/customer audits.
- Oversee supplier quality management, supplier audits, and supplier development.
- Monitor process capability (Cp/Cpk), SPC, MSA, and quality performance metrics.
- Review PPAP, APQP, FMEA, Control Plans, and Process Flow Diagrams.
- Ensure calibration and maintenance of measuring and testing equipment.




- Collaborate with production, engineering, maintenance, and purchasing teams to improve product quality.
- Lead and mentor the quality team, including Quality Managers, Engineers, Inspectors, and Technicians.
- Prepare quality reports and present performance reviews to senior management.

Required Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, Metallurgy, or a related field.
- Master's degree is preferred.
- Certification in ISO 9001 Lead Auditor, Six Sigma Green Belt/Black Belt, or CQE is an advantage.

Experience

- 10–15 years of experience in quality management within sheet metal manufacturing, fabrication, stamping, welding, or automotive components.
- Minimum 5 years in a leadership role managing quality teams.

Technical Skills

- Solid knowledge of sheet metal manufacturing processes including:
- Laser Cutting
- CNC Punching
- Bending/Forming
- Welding
- Powder Coating/Painting
- Assembly
- Expertise in GD&T;, engineering drawings, and dimensional inspection.
- Experience with CMM, height gauges, profile projectors, and other precision measuring instruments.
- Strong understanding of:
- APQP
- PPAP
- FMEA
- SPC
- MSA
- Control Plans
- 8D
- Lean Manufacturing
- Six Sigma
- ISO 9001
- IATF 16949 (preferred for automotive manufacturing)
