RECRUITMENT
Job Description: Quality Engineer (Vendor Quality Management)
Purpose of the Role
NSTL sources key raw materials — including rubber, metal rings and springs — from external suppliers, and supplier-quality issues have been identified as a factor affecting production and customer quality outcomes. With Business growth, new vendors are expected to be added over the next 24 -36 months. This role is being created specifically to strengthen vendor/supplier quality management, working alongside the existing Quality Assurance team under Brijendra Singh Bohra.
Key Responsibilities
- Own day-to-day vendor/supplier quality management: incoming material inspection, supplier rejection tracking, and escalation of recurring supplier quality issues.
- Maintain and formalise supplier quality data (e.g. metal ring, spring and rubber compound suppliers), including rejection-rate tracking by supplier, and support supplier review/qualification decisions.
- Support root-cause analysis and corrective action (including formal supplier corrective action requests) for quality issues traced to incoming materials.
- Contribute to internal rejection and rework tracking and the Cost of Poor Quality KPI already part of the monthly leadership review.
- Support closure of open customer-facing quality non-conformances where the root cause traces to incoming material or vendor process issues.
- Assist Brijendra Singh Bohra in building out quality-system capability aligned to ISO 9001 / IATF 16949 requirements, per the function's own identified training priorities.
- Work with Purchase & PPC (Gaurav Kumar) on supplier qualification, alternate-supplier evaluation, and incoming-stores quality checks.
Key Interfaces
- Brijendra Singh Bohra (QA Head):
quality-system ownership and day-to-day direction
- Gaurav Kumar (Purchase & PPC Head): supplier qualification and incoming-stores coordination
- Amar Chand / Brijesh Kumar (Operations): production-floor quality issues linked to incoming material
- Sales (Dalip Kumar, Arfaz Ahmed): customer-facing quality non-conformance closure
Candidate Requirements
- Diploma or degree in Mechanical/Industrial Engineering or a related quality discipline, or equivalent hands-on quality-inspection experience.
- Working knowledge of, or strong willingness to build capability in, ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 quality-system requirements — this is a stated development priority for the QA function, not necessarily a pre-existing certification requirement for the candidate.
- 3-5 years experience with supplier/vendor quality management, incoming material inspection, or supplier corrective action processes — automotive-component or rubber/metal-component industry background preferred.
- Familiarity with root-cause analysis and structured problem-solving (e.g. 5-Why, fishbone); exposure to statistical tools (e.g. Minitab) is an advantage.
- Valuable record-keeping and reporting discipline — this role directly feeds monthly KPI data on rejection, rework and Cost of Poor Quality.
Success Measures (First 12 Months)
- Measurable improvement in supplier rejection rates for the highest-risk suppliers (e.g. metal ring suppliers), tracked monthly.
- Formal supplier quality data and corrective-action tracking in place where none existed before.
- Demonstrated progress on ISO 9001 / IATF 16949 working knowledge within the QA function.
- Contribution to closing at least one open customer quality non-conformance within the first 6 months.
Pay: ₹25,000.00 - ₹35,000.00 per month
Work Location: In person
