Job Description (JD) – Fire Fighting System Design Draughtsman

Position: Fire Fighting System Design Draughtsman

Department: Design & Engineering

Location: Office / Project Site

Reporting To: Design Engineer / Project Manager

Job Summary

The Fire Fighting System Design Draughtsman is responsible for preparing detailed drawings and layouts for fire protection systems, including hydrant, sprinkler, pump room, and firefighting piping systems. The role involves coordinating with the design team, ensuring compliance with project specifications, and preparing accurate drawings for execution and approval.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare detailed AutoCAD drawings for fire fighting systems.

Develop layouts for hydrant, sprinkler, fire alarm, and pump room systems.

Prepare General Arrangement Drawings (GAD), shop drawings, and as-built drawings.

Review architectural, structural, and MEP drawings for coordination.

Prepare piping layouts, isometric drawings, and equipment installation details.

Incorporate client, consultant, and site comments into drawings.

Ensure drawings comply with project specifications and applicable fire safety standards.

Coordinate with project, execution, and design teams for drawing updates.





Maintain drawing revisions and documentation records.

Support quantity estimation and material take-off from drawings when required.

Qualifications

Diploma/ITI in Mechanical Engineering, Draftsmanship, or related field.

2–5 years of experience in fire fighting system design and drafting.

Proficiency in AutoCAD is mandatory.

Knowledge of fire fighting systems, piping layouts, and equipment arrangements.

Required Skills

AutoCAD drafting and detailing

Reading and interpreting engineering drawings

Knowledge of hydrant and sprinkler systems

Drawing coordination and revision management

Attention to detail and accuracy

Good communication and teamwork skills

Knowledge of MS Office

Preferred Skills

Experience with BIM/Revit MEP software.

Understanding of NFPA, IS Codes, and fire safety regulations.

Experience in commercial, industrial, and residential projects.
