Role Overview:At Teradata, you have the opportunity to lead the Database Performance Testing and Characterization organization as a Senior Manager. Your primary responsibility will be managing a team focused on performance benchmarking, regressions, scalability, and workload characterization for various releases, platforms, and customer scenarios. Your role involves transforming the execution, analysis, and validation of performance testing practices through automation, AI/Agent-assisted analysis, and resilient test pipelines. You will lead transformation initiatives to enhance productivity, quality, cycle time, and operational resiliency within the team.Key Responsibilities:- Lead and nurture a team of performance engineers dedicated to end-to-end performance testing of a database product, including benchmarks, workloads, regressions, scalability, concurrency, and reliability under load.- Take ownership of the teams delivery commitments for performance characterization requests from internal stakeholders and external/customer-driven scenarios.- Drive a transformation roadmap for performance testing that focuses on execution automation, result analysis using AI and Agents, root cause analysis automation, and modernizing the test framework to expand capabilities.- Collaborate with engineering, architecture,



and release teams to translate product changes into performance risk assessments and targeted test plans.- Communicate effectively with senior leadership by providing insights on performance readiness, risks, mitigation plans, and trends using metrics and executive-ready summaries.- Implement governance measures such as baselines, test data versioning, environment parity, noise controls, and auditability of results.Qualifications Required:- 10 years of experience in performance engineering, test engineering, systems engineering, or related disciplines, with a minimum of 4 years in leading teams and delivering transformation roadmaps.- Demonstrated expertise in database performance testing or closely related systems, with a solid understanding of performance metrics and analysis.- Proven track record in modernizing engineering practices through automation and operational rigor, including CI/CD, test orchestration, observability, and reliability engineering.- Experience applying AI/ML and/or LLM-based tooling to enhance engineering productivity, along with strong cross-functional leadership skills.- Hands-on experience with database internals, performance tooling, Python/SQL-based analytics, cloud performance testing, and building internal platforms for test scheduling/orchestration and regression detection using AI.
