Job Description: A Senior General Manager (Sr. GM) - Commercial in a steel manufacturing company is a top-level commercial leadership role responsible for the end-to-end commercial operations of an integrated steel plant, including raw material procurement, logistics, vendor development, cost control, and contract management. The role ensures uninterrupted plant operations and optimal commercial efficiency through cost optimization, strategic sourcing, and regulatory compliance. Key Responsibilities

- Procurement & Strategic Sourcing: Manage the sourcing of raw materials (coal, iron ore, ferroalloys), consumables, spares, and capital equipment.
- Logistics & Supply Chain: Oversee inward and outward logistics, including rake handling, railway coordination, and road transportation.
- Contract & Vendor Management: Negotiate long-term contracts, service agreements, and vendor management, including evaluating vendor performance.
- Cost Control & Optimization: Develop strategies to optimize procurement and logistics costs, including tracking market trends and managing inventory levels.




- Compliance & Documentation: Ensure compliance with statutory norms, tax regulations (GST), and environmental regulations, and manage related documentation and audits.
- Coordination & Strategy: Work closely with production, maintenance, and project teams to align commercial activities with production goals, as well as with top management on strategic planning.
- Team Leadership: Lead and mentor the commercial team, including procurement and stores personnel.

Requirements

- Experience: Minimum 15-25+ years of relevant experience in a steel plant or heavy manufacturing industry.
- Education: Graduate in Engineering / Commerce (MBA preferred).
- Skills: Robust negotiation, analytical, and interpersonal skills, proficiency in ERP/SAP, and deep knowledge of raw material procurement and logistics.
