Job Description: Marketing Operations (QI/Ops) analyst

Role Purpose
Avalara is seeking an experienced, detail-oriented Manager of Marketing Operations (QI/Ops) to join our global Marketing Operations team. The Quality & Intelligence Operations (QI/Ops) team is the backbone of our marketing execution, ensuring that our data, systems, and campaign processes operate flawlessly at scale.
In this role, you will oversee the quality assurance, data integrity, and operational execution of marketing campaigns. You will partner closely with Revenue Marketing, Campaign Operations, and MarTech teams to govern data flows between marketing automation platforms (Eloqua/Marketo) and our CRM (Salesforce), ensuring that every lead is routed, tracked, and measured accurately.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Governance & Quality Assurance: Lead the QI/Ops function to ensure all marketing campaigns, lists, and data uploads are executed without error. Enforce strict SLAs for data imports and campaign member history tracking.
Data Management & Integrity: Own the pipeline of data flowing into Salesforce and Eloqua/Marketo. Troubleshoot and resolve data discrepancies, such as missing campaign member histories, sync errors, and lead routing failures.
Campaign Operations Support: Act as the final quality checkpoint for complex, high-visibility campaigns (including IDC emails and webinar sequences). Manage exception requests and ensure all technical configurations align with compliance and privacy standards.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Revenue Marketing, Field Marketing, and Sales Operations (RevOps) to streamline requests, manage the operational calendar, and handle urgent campaign modifications.
Process Optimization & Automation: Continuously identify bottlenecks in the campaign intake and execution process. Build scalable workflows, templates,



and documentation to reduce manual QI/Ops intervention and empower marketers with self-serve capabilities where appropriate.
Reporting & Triage: Collaborate with Marketing Analytics to ensure campaign structures support accurate Multi-Touch Attribution (MTA) and ROI reporting. Triage platform tickets (via Jira/Workfront) related to data and system exceptions.
Team Leadership & Transition: Manage, mentor, and build a high-performing QI/Ops team. Oversee transition plans, resource allocation, and contractor onboarding to support peak campaign periods.
Qualifications
Experience: 5 7+ years of experience in Marketing Operations, Demand Generation operations, or Revenue Operations in a B2B SaaS environment.
Technical Expertise: Advanced proficiency in Marketing Automation Platforms (Eloqua or Marketo) and CRM systems (Salesforce). Must understand complex data architecture, lead routing rules, and campaign hierarchy.
Quality Focus: A highly analytical, detail-oriented mindset with a proven track record of managing data hygiene, list imports, and platform compliance.
Project Management: Strong experience using project management and ticketing tools (Jira, Workfront) to manage marketing requests and enforce SLAs.
Problem Solving: Ability to remain calm under pressure, quickly diagnosing system errors (e.g., sync failures between Eloqua and SFDC) and implementing rapid solutions.
Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to translate complex technical constraints into explicit guidance for non-technical marketing stakeholders.
