Hiring: PostgreSQL Database Administrator (DBA)

We are looking for an experienced PostgreSQL Database Administrator (DBA) to manage, monitor, optimize, and support PostgreSQL database environments across development, testing, and production. Key Responsibilities

- Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain PostgreSQL database servers.
- Manage PostgreSQL databases across development, testing, staging, UAT, and production environments.
- Monitor database health, performance, storage utilization, and availability.
- Perform proactive database maintenance, health checks, and log analysis.
- Analyze and resolve database performance bottlenecks through SQL query optimization, index tuning, and database configuration improvements.
- Configure and manage PostgreSQL Streaming Replication and troubleshoot replication issues.
- Implement backup and recovery strategies and perform periodic restoration testing.
- Manage database security, user roles, privileges, and access controls.
- Perform database migrations, upgrades, and patching with minimal downtime.
- Ensure database availability, reliability, and disaster recovery readiness.
- Collaborate with Development, DevOps, Infrastructure, and Application teams to support deployments and resolve database-related issues.
- Create and maintain database documentation, SOPs, and operational runbooks.
- Participate in production support, incident management, and root cause analysis.

Required Skills





- 5+ years of hands-on experience as a PostgreSQL DBA.
- Strong knowledge of PostgreSQL architecture, administration, and internals.
- Experience with PostgreSQL installation, configuration, upgrades, and maintenance.
- Expertise in performance tuning, query optimization, and index management.
- Strong understanding of PostgreSQL Streaming Replication, replication monitoring, and failover.
- Experience with backup and recovery using PostgreSQL native tools.
- Knowledge of High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) concepts.
- Experience with database monitoring and performance analysis tools.
- Proficiency in Linux/Unix administration.
- Valuable understanding of SQL, PL/pgSQL, and database scripting.
- Experience with Bash or Python scripting for database automation.
- Knowledge of database security, user management, and auditing.
- Experience working in production support environments.

Preferred Skills

- Experience with PostgreSQL clustering and failover solutions such as Patroni, Pgpool-II, or repmgr.
- Exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes.
- Experience with monitoring tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, Nagios, or Zabbix.
- Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
- Knowledge of ITIL processes and incident management.
