About The Role
This is a maternity cover position for a minimum of 1 year for a full time Property Tax Return Accountant and Bookkeeper role. The successful candidate will be employed by our India company. We have offices in Mumbai and Noida, although the role may be eligible for remote working. The individual in this role will prepare and file property-related tax returns, ensure ongoing tax compliance, and maintain accurate bookkeeping records for a portfolio of residential and investment properties. Day-to-day tasks include recording and reconciling transactions, managing accounts payable and receivable, preparing financial statements and reports, and supporting audit and regulatory requirements. The role also involves liaising with internal teams and external advisors, responding to tax and accounting queries, and providing clear financial information to support management decisions.
Qualifications
- Candidates should possess strong tax skills, including Tax, Tax Compliance, and Tax Preparation, with experience in property-related or real estate tax matters.
- Candidates should possess solid accounting skills, including Accounting and the preparation, review, and analysis of Financial Statements.
- Relevant professional qualifications or progression and experience in bookkeeping or accounting within property, real estate, or related sectors are highly beneficial.
- Candidates should possess strong numerical accuracy, attention to detail, and proficiency with accounting software and Excel.
- Candidates should possess effective communication skills, a strong command of English, the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, and a proactive approach to problem-solving and process improvement.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and filing property tax returns in compliance with applicable laws and regulations. They will ensure ongoing tax compliance for a diverse portfolio of residential and investment properties, staying updated with relevant legislation changes. Maintaining accurate and up-to-date bookkeeping records is essential, including recording transactions, reconciling bank statements, and managing accounts payable and receivable.
Preparing detailed financial statements, reports, and schedules for management review and audit purposes will be a core aspect of the role.
The candidate will support internal teams by providing financial insights and ensuring data accuracy. Liaising with external advisors, such as auditors and tax consultants, to facilitate audits and regulatory submissions will also be part of the responsibilities.
The role requires responding promptly to tax and accounting queries, resolving discrepancies, and suggesting process improvements to streamline financial operations. The individual will contribute to maintaining compliance standards and supporting the company's financial health through diligent record-keeping and proactive financial management.
