Role Overview

- Job Title: Senior Mechanical Engineer – Core-Coil Assembly (CCA)
- Job Location: Chennai (Kannur Plant)
- Minimum Experience: 10+ Years in Power Transformer Manufacturing (CCA department mandatory)
- Required Qualification: B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering
- Employment Category: Full-Time, Permanent

Key Responsibilities

- Assembly Supervision: Oversee the entire Core-Coil Assembly (CCA) process, including core building, coil dropping, vertical/horizontal alignment, and final framing.
- Clamping & Compression: Manage hydraulic/mechanical clamping structures, tie-rod tightening, and block-pressing to ensure design-specified axial clamping pressure.
- Insulation Fitting: Coordinate the layout, sizing,



and tight interlocking of densified wood, pressboard spacers, and cleat-and-lead structures.
- Drying Process Management: Monitor the mechanical alignment and integrity of the active part before and after the Vapor Phase Drying (VPD) or conventional oven cycles.
- Final Tanking Alignment: Lead the final lowering of the processed CCA into the main tank, ensuring precise clearance, gasketing, and core-to-tank locking.

Required Skills

- Domain Expertise: High-level hands-on experience in the structural assembly of active parts for large power transformers (up to 220KV).
- Blueprint Literacy: Exceptional skill in interpreting complex internal mechanical layouts, piping diagrams, and cleat/lead arrangement drawings.
- Mechanical Tolerances: Precision handling of structural alignments, clearance margins, insulation nesting, and torque limits for high-tensile fasteners.
- Collaboration: Robust capability to lead shop-floor fitters and seamlessly coordinate with winding and electrical engineering teams.
