Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Design Engineer Solar to lead the design and development of utility-scale and commercial & industrial (C&I;) solar PV systems. The candidate will be responsible for detailed electrical and layout design, technical due diligence, equipment sizing, and supporting cross-functional project teams from concept to commissioning.

Experience Level: 5+ Years

Required Qualification:

- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering / Power Systems / Renewable Energy.
- Minimum 5–8 years of experience in solar PV system design (utility-scale preferred).
- Robust expertise in PVsyst, AutoCAD, and electrical simulation software.
- Solid understanding of grid connection requirements (33/66/132 kV levels).
- Familiarity with SCADA, protection relays, and remote monitoring systems.

Key Responsibilities:

1. System Design & Engineering

- Perform complete PV system design: DC and AC sizing, stringing configuration, inverter selection, layout optimization.
- Prepare electrical single-line diagrams (SLDs), general arrangement drawings (GAs), and wiring schematics.
- Conduct detailed electrical engineering including cable sizing, voltage drop, earthing, protection schemes, and short circuit analysis.
- Design and validate LV, MV (up to 33kV), and HV (up to 132kV) systems including switchyards and substations.
- Prepare technical specifications and datasheets for all system components.

2. Software & Modelling





- Use design tools such as AutoCAD, PVsyst, Helioscope, ETAP and Excel for system modeling and simulation.
- Conduct energy yield assessment and performance ratio estimation.
- Evaluate shading analysis and module layout optimization.

3. Project Execution Support

- Interface with project management, procurement, and construction teams.
- Review vendor documents and support technical evaluation during procurement.
- Provide engineering support during construction, testing, and commissioning phases.

4. Standards & Compliance

- Ensure compliance with national and international standards (e.g., IEC, IEEE, NEC, IS, CEA).
- Prepare design documentation for regulatory approvals and third-party review.
- Conduct technical audits, quality checks, and risk assessments.

5. Team Leadership

- Mentor junior design engineers and interns.
- Coordinate design efforts across electrical, civil, and SCADA disciplines.
- Participate in client meetings, technical presentations, and site visits.

Preferred Skills:

- Experience with Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).
- Working knowledge of hybrid systems (solar + diesel + storage).
- EPC background or experience with IPPs/consulting firms.
