Job Summary

The Bodyshop Manager is responsible for overseeing all body repair and paint operations for commercial vehicles, ensuring high-quality repairs, timely delivery, customer satisfaction, and profitability. The role involves managing technicians, controlling costs, maintaining workshop efficiency, ensuring compliance with Tata Motors standards, and delivering excellent after-sales service.

Key Responsibilities/ Bodyshop Operations

- Manage the complete bodyshop operations, including accident repair, denting, painting, structural repairs, and vehicle restoration.
- Ensure all repair work complies with Tata Motors repair standards and OEM guidelines.
- Monitor daily workflow to achieve committed delivery timelines.
- Optimize workshop loading and technician productivity.
- Ensure proper allocation of repair jobs based on technician skill levels.

Customer Service

- Coordinate with Service Advisors and Insurance Coordinators for smooth vehicle processing.
- Provide repair estimates and expected delivery timelines.
- Address customer concerns related to body repair quality and delays.
- Ensure high customer satisfaction through quality workmanship and timely communication.

Insurance & Claims

- Coordinate with insurance surveyors for accident vehicle inspections.
- Verify repair estimates and ensure accurate claim documentation.
- Monitor insurance approval status and claim processing.
- Ensure compliance with insurance company procedures.

Team Management

- Lead and supervise bodyshop technicians, painters, denters, helpers, and quality inspectors.




- Conduct daily toolbox meetings.
- Train and mentor employees on current repair techniques and Tata Motors standards.
- Monitor attendance, productivity, and performance.
- Maintain discipline and workplace safety.

Quality Control

- Conduct final quality inspections before vehicle delivery.
- Ensure zero repeat repairs and minimal rework.
- Monitor paint quality, panel fitment, and finish standards.
- Implement continuous improvement initiatives.

Inventory & Cost Control

- Coordinate with the Parts Department for timely availability of genuine Tata Motors spare parts.
- Monitor paint and consumable usage.
- Control wastage and improve cost efficiency.
- Maintain inventory of bodyshop tools and equipment.

Safety & Compliance

- Ensure compliance with Tata Motors workshop standards.
- Maintain all bodyshop equipment in working condition.
- Enforce PPE usage and workshop safety procedures.
- Ensure proper disposal of paint waste and hazardous materials as per environmental regulations.

Performance Monitoring

- Track bodyshop KPIs including:
- Revenue achievement
- Gross profit
- Technician productivity
- Bay utilization
- Repair turnaround time (TAT)
- Repeat repair percentage




- Customer Satisfaction (CSI)
- Insurance claim closure time

Qualifications

- Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Automobile Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Additional certifications in Body Repair or Paint Technology are an advantage.

Experience

- 6–10 years of experience in commercial vehicle bodyshop operations.
- Minimum 2–3 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
- Experience in a Tata Motors Commercial Vehicle dealership is preferred.

Technical Skills

- Knowledge of commercial vehicle body structure and repair techniques.
- Understanding of Tata Motors body repair standards.
- Insurance claim handling and estimation.
- Paint mixing and refinishing processes.
- Workshop Management Systems (DMS).
- MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
