Role Overview
Lead and optimize a high-scale, nationwide supply chain and logistics network that ensures product availability, cost efficiency, and service reliability across 18,000+ stores in India. The role is expected to drive warehouse automation, strengthen last-mile delivery performance, build resilient cold chain operations, and establish best-in-class inventory and transportation planning to support rapid retail growth and superior customer/store experience.
Responsibilities
- Own the end-to-end supply chain and logistics strategy for nationwide distribution across 18,000+ stores, balancing service levels, cost, and scalability.
- Design and execute network optimization initiatives across distribution centers, cross-docks, line-haul, and last-mile delivery routes.
- Lead warehouse automation programs to improve throughput, accuracy, space utilization, labor productivity, and operational reliability.
- Build and manage cold chain logistics capabilities to ensure compliance, product integrity, and minimal temperature excursions for sensitive categories.
- Drive inventory planning and replenishment strategies to improve availability, reduce stock-outs, and optimize working capital.
- Oversee transportation planning and fleet/network partnerships to improve route efficiency, on-time delivery, and freight cost performance.
- Establish robust S&OP; / demand-supply collaboration processes with merchandising, store operations, category, and finance stakeholders.
- Partner with technology, analytics, and operations teams to implement data-driven decision-making, control towers, and performance dashboards.
- Develop operating standards, SOPs, and governance mechanisms for warehouse, transport, and distribution operations nationwide.
- Lead vendor and 3PL management,
including contract negotiation, service-level management, and performance improvement programs.
- Build, mentor, and scale a high-performing logistics leadership team capable of supporting multi-region operations and future expansion.
- Champion continuous improvement, automation, and lean operational practices to improve speed, quality, and cost-to-serve.
Qualifications
Required
- 12-15 years of progressive experience in supply chain, logistics, distribution, or operations leadership.
- Demonstrated leadership experience managing large-scale retail or consumer distribution networks.
- Deep expertise in warehouse operations, inventory management, transportation planning, and last-mile delivery.
- Proven experience leading nationwide operations with multiple warehouses, hubs, or fulfillment nodes.
- Hands-on experience in optimizing cost, service levels, and operational efficiency across complex networks.
- Strong stakeholder management experience across operations, finance, procurement, merchandising, and technology teams.
- Track record of managing external logistics partners, transporters, and/or 3PLs.
- Ability to lead and develop high-performing teams in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred
- Experience implementing warehouse automation, WMS/TMS, route optimization, or supply chain control tower solutions.
- Cold chain logistics experience, especially for temperature-sensitive retail categories.
- Experience in large-format retail, grocery, pharmacy, FMCG, e-commerce, or omnichannel distribution environments.
- MBA, PGDM, or equivalent postgraduate qualification in Supply Chain, Operations, Logistics, or related field.
- Skilled certifications such as APICS/ASCM CPIM, CSCP, CILT, Six Sigma, or Lean certifications.
- Exposure to data analytics tools, ERP platforms, WMS/TMS systems, and advanced forecasting/planning tools.
