Role & responsibilities
Lead end-to-end payroll processing for UK employees, including Denpay and staff payroll, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely delivery
Enter payroll data into Xero from the outsourced payroll provider for each Practice and Head Office
Ensure compliance with PAYE, National Insurance, and pension regulations
Liaise with the Treasurer to ensure timely and accurate payments related to payroll, taxes, and statutory obligations
Maintain and reconcile trackers for retention, locum therapists, and overpayments, ensuring proper follow-ups and controls
Prepare and present monthly management information (MI) and financial reports to support business planning and decision-making
Manage full-cycle accounting for UK-based clients using Xero, including financial statements, reconciliations, and management reporting
Collaborate with managers and clients to resolve queries, support audits, and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency
Ensure compliance with UK GAAP, HMRC requirements (PAYE, VAT, Corporation Tax), NHS reporting obligations and Companies House filings.
Preferred candidate profile
Minimum 5 years of experience in Payroll and Credit
Bachelor's degree in finance, Accounting, or a related field
Proven experience in payroll processing, ideally within a UK-based setting
Robust understanding of UK payroll systems (e.g., Denpay or similar)
Hands-on experience with Xero for accounting and reporting
Experience managing end-to-end accounting processes, including reconciliations and financial reporting
Exposure to working with outsourced payroll providers and multi-entity structures (desirable)
Experience supporting audits and working with external stakeholders or clients
