Role & responsibilities
Transport & Dispatch Operations:
Supervise daily dispatches from the DC to stores as per schedule.
Ensure on-time vehicle reporting, loading, and departure to minimize transit delays.
Monitor and track vehicle movements using GPS or manual logs.
Vendor & Fleet Management:
Coordinate with transport vendors and third-party logistics (3PL) partners for vehicle availability.
Ensure compliance with SLA agreements, rate contracts, and performance standards.
Resolve issues related to delays, vehicle breakdowns, or delivery failures.
Route Planning & Optimization:
Plan and optimize delivery routes to reduce transit time, fuel costs, and delivery lead time.
Ensure proper vehicle capacity utilization and route-wise cost efficiency.
Documentation & Compliance:
Ensure timely and correct transport documentation (E-Way bills, invoices, LR, PODs, etc.).
Comply with legal and safety norms such as vehicle permits, driver documents, and RTO regulations.
MIS & Reporting:
Generate daily/weekly reports on dispatch performance, delays, TAT, vehicle usage, and cost.
Highlight variances and take corrective action in coordination with planning and logistics teams.
Cost Control & Budgeting:
Track and control transportation costs, analyze trends,



and identify cost-saving opportunities.
Maintain reports on fuel usage, vendor payments, and freight budgets.
Team Management & Coordination:
Supervise and guide the transportation team (supervisors, loaders, drivers).
Train staff on loading procedures, safety, route handling, and documentation protocols.
Coordinate closely with warehouse, inventory, and customer service teams for smooth dispatch flow. Required Skills:
Solid understanding of transportation operations in warehousing/retail logistics.
Hands-on experience with fleet management, route planning, and dispatch coordination.
Proficient in MS Excel, SAP
Strong communication and vendor negotiation skills.
Ability to manage pressure, meet tight timelines, and handle multi-location operations.
