We're Hiring: Communication Engineer – Swarm Connectivity
Full time | Core team
LAT Aerospace | Perception & Autonomy
At LAT Aerospace, we’re building India’s first clean-sheet hybrid-electric STOL aircraft and a next-generation autonomy stack powering aircraft for complex missions. Our team is kicking off a recent chapter — developing the full flight-control, obstacle-avoidance, GNSS-denied navigation, and swarm-coordination layers that will define LAT’s autonomy architecture.
We’re hiring a Communication Engineer who will design, evaluate, and optimize the mesh communication layer that forms the backbone of LAT’s swarm stack.
What you’ll do
Select, evaluate, and integrate mesh radios suitable for UAV-to-UAV and UAV-to-ground communication in dynamic swarm operations.
Optimize RF performance — link budgets, throughput, latency, channel selection, antenna design, and interference management for multi-agent environments.
Design swarm communication architectures supporting low-latency state sharing, decentralized coordination, and minimal-dropout operation at scale.
Conduct real-world range, penetration, and reliability testing across terrain types, altitudes,
and operational scenarios.
Implement adaptive networking strategies: dynamic routing, link-quality estimation, fallback channels, and bandwidth prioritization.
Evaluate and integrate COTS radios, SDR platforms, advanced antennas, and proprietary mesh systems as needed.
What we're looking for
Robust fundamental understanding of RF systems, wireless communication, and mesh networking protocols (802.11s, MANETs, OLSR, DSDV, BATMAN, etc.).
Experience with radio modules, SDRs, antennas, and integrating communication hardware into embedded systems.
Experience with networking metrics, packet-level debugging, and tools like Wireshark, iperf, spectrum analyzers, SDR toolchains, etc.
Comfortable working with embedded Linux, radio drivers, and networking stacks.
Ability to test communication performance in field deployments and iterate based on real-world data.
Why LAT?
Core-team role building the autonomy brain of India’s most ambitious aerospace startup.
Ownership, speed, and the chance to define a recent class of systems from scratch.
