A busduct design engineer creates, optimizes, and develops busbar trunking systems (busways) for electrical power distribution. They produce fabrication drawings, conduct thermal/short-circuit calculations, and ensure designs meet international safety standards (IEC) across commercial, industrial, and data center projects
Key Responsibilities
Drafting & Modeling: Create General Arrangement (GA) drawings, isometric layouts, and 3D models for busbar routing using CAD tools.
Engineering Calculations: Perform voltage drop, heat dissipation, short-circuit, and mechanical stress calculations.
Material Selection: Size copper or aluminum conductors and select insulating materials based on current capacity (amperage) and IP ratings.
Tendering & BOQ: Review customer specifications, Single Line Diagrams (SLDs),
and Bill of Quantities (BOQs) to provide accurate design and cost estimates.
Manufacturing Support: Generate fabrication and assembly drawings, bill of materials, and support continuous product improvement.
Site Coordination: Conduct pre-installation site visits, verify routing clearances, and support project execution teams.
