Job Summary:
Maruti Suzuki India Limited seeks a skilled Controls Engineer for xEV Inverter-Motor Controls Development. The candidate will help develop and integrate inverter controls software for hybrid and electric vehicles, ensuring system performance, safety, and reliability while collaborating with various teams and suppliers.

Educational Qualification:
Essential:
B.E./B.Tech in Electrical/Electronics Engineering from a premier institute

Desirable:
Masters in Power Electronics/electric Machines-drives/Controls

Experience:
Minimum 3 years - Maximum 7 years

Job Role & Responsibilities:
Role:
xEV Inverter-Motor Controls Development

Define xEV Traction Inverter & Electrical System Architecture.

Work with System team to identify the electrical interfaces & calibration, xEV System and Software Requirements definition.

Define Inverter Control functions specifications E.g. State transition Diagram & Conditions, Torque control (Protection & restriction), Thermal behavior, estimations, Vehicle Adhesion Controls, Motor Control Algorithms (e.g. Field Oriented Control) PWM Techniques, Sensor less algorithms, Motor performance calibration functions (MTPA, Flux weakening), Torque Ripple reduction strategies etc.

Perform Inverter Controls Software V&V; (MIL, SIL, HIL)

Perform Inverter Hardware-Software Integration Tests, e-Motor Bench Tests to meet required inverter-motor expected performance.

Support to System Bench and Vehicle integration Tests.

ISO 26262 compliance for Traction Inverter ECU, DFMEA, Functional Safety Concept and requirements, Technical Safety concept and requirements, SW Safety Architecture and development.

Functional Testing, System/Component Benchmarking.

Minimum 6-8 years of hands-on experience in xEV Inverter Controls Development.

Knowledge of Power electronics in xEV and its Components

Knowledge of different electric motor types (PMSM/Sy-RM/Induction Motor)

Knowledge of Electric drivetrain systems (Architectures, modelling and simulations and design considerations)

Modelling, analysis & design of Inverters, Motor drives & its topology

Vehicle dynamics using MATLAB/Simulink or any other tool

Exposure to SW Development toolchain:
Requirement Management tools: (E.g. DOORS/DNG/ Polarian/Code beamer etc.)

Architecture definition tools: (E.g. MATLAB system composer/dSPACE System desk/Enterprise Architect etc.)

Technical Skills:
Minimum 3-7 years of hands-on experience in xEV Inverter Controls Development.

Knowledge of Power electronics in xEV and its Components

Knowledge of different electric motor types (PMSM/Sy-RM/Induction Motor)

Knowledge of Electric drivetrain systems (Architectures, modelling and simulations and design considerations)

Modelling, analysis & design of Inverters, Motor drives & its topology

Experience with Vehicle/eMotor/System Bench Data analysis, debugging and problem solving for inverter-motor control system performance/integration issues.

Knowledge of ISO-26262.

Knowledge of ASPICE Software Development Process

Knowledge of AUTOSAR Software Architecture

Exposure to Hybrid / Electric Powertrain Control Design, development, Verification and Validation. Familiarity with on board diagnostics.

Experience in testing at controller level (HIL), Motor bench and vehicle level

Exposure to Regulations, and Standards of HEV/EV such as AIS 041, AIS038, AIS102

Integration and Collaboration Experience:
Cross-functional collaboration with:
System Engineering Team

for Requirements elicitation for xEV Inverter component.

Software teams

for defining interface specifications and ensuring proper implementation of control strategies.

Vehicle integration/ Test teams

for validating drivability, performance, and system compatibility at the vehicle level.

Experience in

working with suppliers and partners

for component specification finalization, DVP planning, and resolving integration issues.

Project Exposure:
Preferred: Exposure to

global EV platforms

or

cross-geography collaboration

with OEM or Tier-1 teams.

Ability to

troubleshoot system-level issues

during testing and validation phases and root-cause analysis of integration problems.
