About the Role

We are looking for a skilled ePub Specialist to produce high-quality, standards-compliant, and accessible digital publications. The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience in EPUB development, HTML, CSS, XML, and accessibility standards, with the ability to deliver production-ready eBooks that meet publisher specifications and international accessibility guidelines.

Key Responsibilities

- Create, edit, and maintain reflowable and fixed-layout EPUB files in accordance with EPUB 2 and EPUB 3 standards.
- Convert print and manuscript content into high-quality, production-ready digital publications.
- Develop and edit EPUB content using HTML5, CSS3, XML, and related web technologies.
- Ensure compliance with accessibility standards, including WCAG 2.0/2.1, EPUB Accessibility, and Section 508 requirements.
- Implement semantic HTML, ARIA roles, alt text, landmarks, and navigation structures to improve accessibility.
- Perform quality assurance checks to ensure formatting, functionality, consistency, and compatibility across multiple eReading platforms and devices.
- Validate EPUB files using industry-standard tools such as EPUBCheck, Ace by DAISY, and other validation utilities.
- Troubleshoot and resolve layout, styling, rendering, and accessibility issues.
- Collaborate with Editorial, Design, Digital Production, and Project Management teams to ensure timely project delivery.
- Maintain project documentation and follow publisher specifications,



workflow standards, and quality processes.

Required Skills

- Minimum 2 years of experience in EPUB production or digital publishing.
- Strong knowledge of EPUB 2 and EPUB 3 specifications.
- Hands-on experience with HTML5, CSS3, and XML.
- Good understanding of accessibility standards, including WCAG 2.0/2.1, EPUB Accessibility, and Section 508.
- Experience implementing semantic markup, ARIA roles, alt text, and accessible navigation structures.
- Proficiency in EPUB validation using tools such as EPUBCheck and Ace by DAISY.
- Strong analytical skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to troubleshoot technical and formatting issues independently.
- Good communication and collaboration skills.

Preferred Skills

- Experience with Adobe InDesign and EPUB export workflows.
- Knowledge of accessible PDF creation and DAISY publishing standards.
- Familiarity with MathML, SVG, media overlays, and interactive EPUB features.
- Exposure to JavaScript for EPUB interactivity will be an added advantage.
- Experience working with international publishers and accessibility-first publishing workflows.

Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in any discipline.
- Relevant certifications or training in Digital Publishing, Web Technologies, or Accessibility will be an added advantage.
