Looking for a Senior Radiographer for Meridian Hospital, Kolathur, Chennai.

The Senior Radiographer is responsible for performing high-quality diagnostic imaging procedures while ensuring patient safety, radiation protection, equipment maintenance, and compliance with hospital policies and regulatory standards. The role also includes supervising junior radiographers, coordinating departmental activities, maintaining imaging quality, and supporting continuous quality improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

1. Diagnostic Imaging

- Perform X-Ray, CT Scan, and other radiological procedures as assigned.
- Ensure proper patient positioning to obtain high-quality diagnostic images.
- Verify imaging requests and patient identity before every procedure.
- Follow standard imaging protocols and departmental guidelines.
- Assist radiologists during specialized diagnostic procedures.

2. Patient Care

- Explain imaging procedures clearly to patients.
- Ensure patient comfort, dignity, and privacy throughout the examination.
- Monitor patients for any adverse reactions during contrast studies.
- Handle emergency and critically ill patients efficiently.
- Maintain effective communication with patients and their attendants.

3. Radiation Safety

- Follow ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable) principles.
- Ensure proper use of radiation protection devices.
- Monitor radiation exposure and maintain radiation safety records.
- Ensure compliance with AERB guidelines and hospital radiation safety policies.
- Report radiation safety incidents immediately.

4. Equipment Management

- Perform daily equipment quality assurance checks.
- Report equipment malfunctions promptly.
- Coordinate preventive maintenance with the Biomedical Engineering Department.
- Maintain cleanliness and readiness of imaging equipment.
- Ensure uninterrupted availability of imaging services.

5. Documentation & Records

- Maintain accurate patient and imaging records.




- Verify completion of imaging documentation before releasing reports.
- Ensure proper storage and retrieval of digital images.
- Maintain departmental registers and statutory records.
- Preserve confidentiality of patient information.

6. Team Supervision

- Supervise junior radiographers and technicians.
- Allocate daily work schedules and duty assignments.
- Train newly joined staff on imaging protocols and safety procedures.
- Monitor staff performance and provide guidance.
- Ensure adequate departmental staffing during all shifts.

7. Infection Prevention & Control

- Follow hospital infection control policies.
- Disinfect imaging equipment after every patient as required.
- Use appropriate PPE during procedures.
- Segregate biomedical waste according to hospital protocols.
- Report infection control concerns promptly.

8. NABH & Quality Compliance

- Follow NABH standards and departmental SOPs.
- Participate in quality improvement activities.
- Assist during internal and external audits.
- Maintain departmental quality indicators.
- Participate in departmental meetings and training sessions.

9. Emergency Responsibilities

- Attend trauma and emergency imaging cases promptly.
- Coordinate with Emergency, ICU, OT, and inpatient departments.
- Ensure timely completion of urgent investigations.
- Support disaster management and code responses as required.

Educational Qualification

- B.Sc. Radiography / B.Sc. Medical Imaging Technology or equivalent.
- Valid registration/certification as applicable.

Experience

- Minimum 5–8 years of experience in diagnostic imaging.
- Experience in multi-specialty or tertiary care hospitals preferred.
- Experience handling CT and advanced imaging systems is desirable.
