Role Purpose
To ensure that all construction activities in the hydro tunnel project are executed in accordance with approved drawings, technical specifications, contract requirements, applicable codes, and quality standards. The role is responsible for implementing the Project Quality Plan, conducting inspections, monitoring quality compliance, and maintaining quality documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement and monitor the Project Quality Plan (PQP), Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), and Method Statements.
- Ensure construction activities comply with project specifications, contract requirements, and applicable IS, IRC, BIS, ASTM, ACI, and international standards.
- Conduct inspections of civil works including tunnel excavation (NATM/TBM/Drill & Blast), rock support, shotcrete, rock bolting, concrete lining, grouting, and associated hydro structures.
- Verify incoming construction materials through inspection and testing before use.
- Coordinate laboratory testing for concrete, aggregates, cement, steel, admixtures, grout, and other construction materials.
- Monitor concrete production, placement, curing, and testing to ensure compliance with quality standards.
- Conduct stage-wise inspections and witness tests with consultants, clients, and third-party inspection agencies.
- Raise, monitor, and close Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), Site Observation Reports (SORs), and Corrective & Preventive Actions (CAPA).
- Ensure proper calibration of laboratory and testing equipment.
- Review subcontractors' quality documents and monitor their compliance with project quality requirements.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly quality reports and maintain inspection records.
- Participate in internal and external quality audits and ensure timely closure of audit observations.
- Coordinate with construction, planning, design,
and HSE teams to resolve quality-related issues.
- Ensure proper documentation for handing over completed works.
Key Deliverables
- Compliance with project quality standards and specifications.

- Effective closure of NCRs and quality observations.
- Accurate maintenance of quality records and documentation.
- Successful completion of internal, client, and third-party quality audits.
- Compliance with contractual quality requirements.
Educational Qualification
- Bachelor's Degree/Diploma in Civil Engineering.
Experience
- Quality Control Engineer: 48 years of experience in construction projects.
- Quality Control Manager: 10–18 years of experience, with at least 5 years in hydro, tunnel, underground, or large infrastructure projects.
