SEO/AEO Consultant — 3-Month Contract (Fintech)

Engagement: 3 months, contract | Remote | Part time

About the role

We're a US consumer fintech app. Our site has solid technical foundations already but organic is underweight relative to paid. We want someone to take ownership of organic and AI-answer visibility for a focused 90-day sprint and leave behind a system, not just deliverables. This is a hands-on role. You will be the only SEO in the room.

What you'll own

- Authority building. Grow Semrush Authority Score through legitimate link acquisition — digital PR, expert commentary, resource placements, partnerships, HARO-style sourcing. We treat Authority Score as a standalone success metric: if traffic lags but authority moves, that still counts. No PBNs, no paid link networks, no directory spam. We will audit the backlink profile at handoff.
- Non-branded organic growth. Build and execute a keyword strategy targeting high-intent non-branded queries in personal finance, cash advance, and credit-building categories. Branded traffic is not the goal; we measure you on non-branded sessions and non-branded conversions.
- Internal linking architecture. Audit and rebuild internal linking across blog, product, and comparison pages. Define the link model (hub-and-spoke, contextual rules, anchor text conventions) and document it so writers can follow it without you.
- AEO/GEO. Structure content for AI answer surfaces — ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, Gemini. Schema/JSON-LD implementation and QA,



entity consistency, third-party citation building on the sources LLMs actually pull from. You should be able to explain how you measure AI share of voice and how you move it.
- Content production. Write or direct keyword-targeted blog content for our audience — people managing cash flow between paychecks, building credit, avoiding overdraft fees. Fintech means compliance constraints on claims language; you'll work within them.
- CRO input. Advisory, not ownership. Review landing pages and funnel steps, propose test hypotheses, help prioritize what we ship.

Requirements

- 4+ years SEO, with demonstrable non-branded organic growth on a site you can name
- Direct experience with schema/JSON-LD, technical audits, and log-level or GSC-level diagnosis
- Practical AEO/GEO experience
- Fluent in Semrush or Ahrefs, GSC, GA4
- Can write publishable content yourself, not only brief it out
- Comfortable in a regulated category (fintech, lending, health, or legal experience preferred)
- Self-directed; this is a sprint with one stakeholder

How we'll measure success

You'll agree on baselines with us in week one. Broad targets for the 90 days:

- Non-branded organic sessions and non-branded signups
- Semrush Authority Score movement
- Referring domains acquired (quality-weighted, reviewed manually)
- Indexed and ranking pages for target keyword set
- AI share of voice across tracked prompts
- Internal linking coverage and orphan page reduction
