Role & Responsibilities:

Oversee technical management, maintenance, and operational readiness of the company's fleet of dredgers, barges, tugs, and support vessels in accordance with Classification Society rules and Flag State requirements. Plan, schedule, and monitor dry-docking, repairs, and surveys (annual, intermediate, special, class renewal) to ensure continuous seaworthiness and class certification. Liaise directly with Classification Societies (IRClass and other ROs), Flag State administrations, Port State Control, and DG Shipping on survey scheduling, condition of class, deficiencies, and statutory compliance. Review and approve technical specifications, repair estimates, spare parts procurement, and dockyard work packages. Monitor vessel performance, machinery condition, and PMS (Planned Maintenance System) compliance across the fleet. Ensure compliance with ISM Code, ISPS Code, MARPOL, SOLAS, and other applicable maritime conventions. Coordinate with Masters, Chief Engineers, and crew on technical issues, breakdowns, and emergency repairs. Conduct/oversee technical audits, inspections, and vetting of vessels; ensure timely closure of findings. Manage relationships with shipyards, repair contractors, class surveyors, and OEMs. Prepare and manage the fleet's technical/maintenance budget.



Maintain technical records, survey reports, and vessel history files. Support management on decisions relating to vessel acquisition, retrofitting, and disposal from a technical standpoint. Provide periodic technical status reports and risk assessments to senior management.

Preferred Candidate Profile:

Prior experience as a Class Surveyor (IRClass or another recognised Classification Society) or as a Technical Superintendent/Technical Manager with responsibility for vessel maintenance, survey coordination, and dry-docking. Sound working knowledge of IRS/IRClass Rules, Flag State requirements, ISM/ISPS Code, MARPOL, and SOLAS. Marine Engineering qualification (Class I/Class IV COC or equivalent) or ex-Class Surveyor background strongly preferred. Experience with dredgers, barges, tugs, or similar specialised marine vessels an added advantage. Strong understanding of dry-dock planning, repair estimation, and technical budgeting. Valuable coordination skills for liaising with class societies, port authorities, and shipyards. Ability to work independently and report directly to senior management. Willingness to travel to vessel locations/shipyards as required.
