Designation: Forming Manager

The Forming Manager is responsible for overseeing all glass container forming operations to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality production. The role involves managing forming machines, optimizing production processes, minimizing defects, improving equipment efficiency, and leading production teams to achieve plant objectives related to quality, productivity, and cost.

Key Responsibilities

- Manage day-to-day operations of the glass container forming department.

- Ensure production targets are achieved while maintaining quality standards.

- Monitor and optimize the performance of IS (Individual Section) forming machines.

- Coordinate with Batch & Furnace, Hot End, Cold End, Maintenance, Mold Shop, and Quality departments to ensure uninterrupted production.

- Analyze production losses, defects, downtime, and machine efficiency, and implement corrective actions.

- Optimize gob distribution, blank mold, blow mold, and process parameters to improve container quality.

- Lead troubleshooting activities related to forming defects such as checks, blisters, seeds, thin glass, mold marks, and dimensional variations.

- Plan mold changes, machine setups, and production changeovers efficiently.

- Ensure preventive and predictive maintenance schedules are followed in coordination with the engineering team.

- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness), yield improvement, waste reduction, and energy conservation.

- Monitor KPIs including production efficiency, pack-to-melt ratio, reject percentage, machine uptime, and customer complaints.





- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and quality management systems.

- Develop and coach shift supervisors, forming technicians, machine operators, and support staff.

- Prepare production reports, performance dashboards, and management presentations.

- Support new product development and successful production trials.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline.

- Additional certifications in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, TPM, or Glass Technology are an advantage.

Experience
- 15 years of experience in the glass container manufacturing industry.

- At least 5 years in a leadership role managing forming operations

- Experience in high-speed glass container production is preferred.

Required Skills
- Thorough knowledge of the glass container manufacturing process.

- Robust understanding of IS machine operations and forming technology.

- Knowledge of gob formation, mold equipment, and hot-end processes.

- Familiarity with production planning, quality systems, and statistical process control (SPC).

- Ability to analyze production data and implement process improvements.

- Strong problem-solving and root cause analysis skills.

- Leadership, team management, and employee development capabilities.
