Position Title: Network Engineer

Experience Required: 3-5 Years

Educational Qualification: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related

field

Roles and Responsibilities:

i. Design, configure, and manage network infrastructure, including routers, switches, VLANs, and

firewalls. Administer and maintain Sophos firewall environments, including policy configuration,

VPN setup, IPS, and web filtering.

ii. Implement and manage VLAN routing to segment network traffic and enhance security and

performance.

iii. Monitor and troubleshoot network connectivity issues, ensuring minimal downtime and

optimized throughput.

iv. Collaborate with system administrators to ensure cohesive server-network integration and

security posture.

v. Conduct periodic security audits and vulnerability assessments on the network layer.

vi. Maintain up-to-date network documentation, including topology diagrams, configuration

backups, and change logs.

vii. Provide escalation support for complex network issues and mentor junior IT staff on networking

best practices.

viii. Stay informed on emerging network technologies and recommend improvements to enhance

infrastructure efficiency.

Required Skills and Experience:

i.



3-5 years of proven experience in network administration or engineering roles.

ii. Strong understanding of networking concepts such as TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, and subnetting.

iii. Hands-on experience with network monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds, Nagios, PRTG).

iv. Proficiency in configuring and managing Cisco, Juniper, or similar network hardware.

v. Knowledge of network security protocols and best practices.

vi. Experience in working with cloud networking (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud) is an added

advantage.

vii. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

viii. Hands-on experience with Sophos XG/UTM firewall appliances, including deployment and

advanced configuration. Solid knowledge of Layer 2/Layer 3 networking, VLANs, trunking,

routing protocols (OSPF, BGP), and NAT.

ix. Familiarity with monitoring and management tools such as SNMP, Wireshark, or SolarWinds.

Understanding of secure network design, segmentation, and zero-trust principles.

Preferred Certifications:

i. Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) / Professional (CCNP)

ii. CompTIA Network+ or equivalent or Sophos Certified Engineer are an added advantage

iii. Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) Optional but preferred for securityfocused

roles
