Consultant Psychiatrist

Reporting To:Medical Director / Clinical Director

Location: Mind & Brain Hospital, Bengaluru

Employment Type: Full-Time

Working Hours

- Full-Time: 9 hours/day, 6 days/week

Qualification

- MBBS from a recognized medical college.
- MD/DNB in Psychiatry.
- Valid Karnataka Medical Council (KMC/NMC) Registration.
- Fellowship or certification in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry, Addiction Psychiatry, Geriatric Psychiatry, or other subspecialties is an added advantage.

Experience

- Freshers with MD/DNB Psychiatry may apply.
- 1–5 years of experience in a psychiatric hospital is preferred.
- Experience in OPD, IPD, emergency psychiatry, and de-addiction services is desirable.

Key ResponsibilitiesClinical Responsibilities

- Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients with psychiatric disorders.
- Conduct psychiatric assessments and formulate individualized treatment plans.
- Prescribe and monitor psychotropic medications.
- Manage psychiatric emergencies, including aggression, suicidal behaviour, and withdrawal states.
- Provide outpatient (OPD), inpatient (IPD), and emergency psychiatric care.
- Conduct regular patient reviews and modify treatment plans as required.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary care with psychologists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, nurses, social workers, and other specialists.

Documentation

- Maintain complete, accurate, and timely medical records.
- Prepare discharge summaries, prescriptions, progress notes, and certificates.
- Ensure documentation complies with NABH, KPME, and hospital policies.

Patient & Family Education

- Counsel patients and caregivers regarding diagnosis, treatment, medication adherence, and relapse prevention.
- Educate families about rehabilitation and community support services.

Quality & Compliance

- Adhere to NABH standards and quality improvement initiatives.




- Ensure compliance with the Mental Healthcare Act, 2017, ethical guidelines, and patient confidentiality.
- Participate in clinical audits, mortality reviews, and incident reporting.

Teaching & Training

- Supervise junior doctors, psychologists, interns, and nursing staff.
- Conduct CME sessions, case discussions, and departmental teaching programs.
- Participate in awareness programs and community mental health initiatives.

Administrative Responsibilities

- Participate in departmental meetings and hospital committees.
- Support policy implementation and continuous quality improvement.
- Coordinate with HR and administration regarding staffing and operational requirements.

- Rotational on-call duties as per hospital requirements.

Pay: ₹75,000.00 - ₹120,000.00 per month
