Key ResponsibilitiesMechanical Maintenance

- Lead all mechanical maintenance activities for 4 × 4.5 MVA Submerged Arc Furnaces and auxiliary systems.
- Ensure high equipment availability through preventive, predictive, and condition-based maintenance.
- Minimize breakdowns and improve Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF).
- Develop annual and monthly maintenance schedules.

Furnace Mechanical Systems

- Maintain furnace shells, roof structures, electrode columns, electrode slipping systems, hydraulic cylinders, clamping mechanisms, pressure rings, and furnace tilting mechanisms (where applicable).
- Supervise maintenance of tapping equipment, launders, slag handling systems, and casting beds.
- Ensure reliability of furnace cooling water circuits, pipelines, pumps, valves, and heat exchangers.
- Monitor refractory-related mechanical interfaces and coordinate shutdowns with production.

Material Handling Equipment

- Maintain conveyors, bucket elevators, vibrating feeders, crushers, screens, hoppers, bins, and transfer chutes.
- Ensure smooth operation of raw material charging and finished product handling systems.

Utility Equipment

- Oversee maintenance of:
- Cooling water systems
- Industrial pumps
- Air compressors
- Hydraulic power packs
- Gearboxes
- Blowers and fans
- Dust extraction systems
- Bag filters
- EOT cranes and hoists
- DG sets and auxiliary mechanical equipment

Shutdown & Project Management

- Plan and execute annual furnace shutdowns and major overhauls.
- Coordinate refractory replacement, equipment alignment, and major mechanical repairs.
- Support plant expansion, equipment installation, and commissioning projects.
- Ensure shutdown activities are completed within planned schedules and budgets.

Reliability & Continuous Improvement

- Implement Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM), Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA), and preventive maintenance programs.
- Monitor vibration, lubrication, alignment, and condition monitoring activities.
- Develop initiatives to improve equipment reliability and reduce maintenance costs.




- Maintain critical spare parts inventory and optimize spare consumption.

Safety & Compliance

- Ensure compliance with statutory safety regulations and company safety standards.
- Conduct safety audits, toolbox talks, and permit-to-work compliance.
- Ensure safe maintenance practices during furnace shutdowns and equipment isolation.
- Maintain compliance with environmental and pollution control requirements.

Team Leadership

- Lead mechanical engineers, supervisors, fitters, welders, technicians, and contract manpower.
- Develop maintenance SOPs and work instructions.
- Conduct technical training and competency development programs.
- Foster teamwork and continuous improvement within the maintenance department.

Budget & Reporting

- Prepare annual maintenance budgets and monitor expenditure.
- Control maintenance costs without compromising equipment reliability.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance reports, downtime analysis, and KPI dashboards.
- Coordinate with Production, Electrical, Stores, and Procurement departments.

Qualifications

- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Skilled certifications in Maintenance Management, Reliability Engineering, or TPM are desirable.

Experience

- 10–15 years of experience in mechanical maintenance within ferro alloys, steel, sponge iron, mining, or metallurgical industries.
- Minimum 5 years in a leadership role managing maintenance of Submerged Arc Furnaces (SAF).
- Experience in shutdown planning, hydraulic systems, rotating equipment, conveyors, crushers, and heavy industrial machinery.

Pay: ₹30,000.00 - ₹40,000.00 per month
