Position Summary

The Supermarket Counter Cashier is responsible for managing the checkout lanes, processing transactions efficiently, and providing a friendly, accurate final point of contact for customers. This role requires speed, attention to detail, strong numerical skills, and excellent customer service to ensure a smooth departure for every shopper.

Key Responsibilities

- Transaction Processing:
- Scan grocery items quickly and accurately using barcode scanners and Point of Sale (POS) touchscreens.
- Weigh produce items at the register counter to calculate correct pricing based on current store rates.
- Process various payment types smoothly, including cash, credit/debit cards, mobile wallets, and digital coupons/vouchers.
- Count and issue accurate change and receipts for every cash transaction.
- Customer Interaction:
- Greet every customer politely, scan loyalty cards, and ask if they found everything they needed.
- Carefully bag groceries, keeping heavy items at the bottom and fragile items (like eggs, bread,



or glass jars) protected at the top.
- Verify legal identification for age-restricted products (such as alcohol or tobacco) before completing the sale.
- Cash Management & Security:
- Balance the cash drawer at the beginning and end of each shift, ensuring all cash, checks, and card receipts match the system log.
- Report any discrepancies or shortfalls to the shift supervisor immediately.
- Drop excess cash into the store protected ("cash drops") according to store security protocols during high-volume periods.
- Station Maintenance:
- Keep the immediate checkout lane, conveyor belt, and bagging area clean, sanitized, and organized.
- Restock checkout lane impulse items (like candy, magazines, or batteries) and ensure plenty of plastic/paper grocery bags are on hand.

Pay: ₹9,260.22 - ₹21,945.71 per month
