The CNC Shop Manager will lead all CNC machining operations with direct accountability to the General Manager / Director.
This role carries full responsibility for:
- Operational performance and on-time delivery
- Team development for expansion
- AS9100D documentation and compliance upgrade
- Structured MIS reporting and performance transparency
This is a senior operational leadership position requiring strong technical depth and disciplined management control.
Key Responsibilities
1. Production & Operational Leadership
- Lead CNC milling, turning, and multi-axis machining operations.
- Ensure production targets, quality standards, and delivery schedules are consistently achieved.
- Monitor productivity, machine utilization, OEE, and cost efficiency.
- Coordinate with Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, and Program Management teams.
2. MIS Reporting & Performance Governance (Director-Level Reporting)
Direct reporting to Director with structured MIS cadence:
Daily MIS
- Production output vs plan
- Machine utilization and downtime
- Rejection and rework status
- Critical bottlenecks
- Manpower deployment
Weekly MIS
- OEE performance trends
- Delivery adherence
- WIP status
- Quality metrics (PPM, NCRs, CAPA status)
- Tooling and maintenance status
Monthly MIS
- Productivity analysis
- Cost performance vs budget
- Capacity utilization
- Skill development progress
- AS9100D compliance status
- Expansion readiness metrics
- Present structured review reports to the Director.
- Recommend corrective actions and improvement initiatives.
- Maintain data accuracy and traceability aligned with aerospace standards.
3. AS9100D Upgrade & Documentation Control (Critical Responsibility)
Lead shop-floor implementation and sustainment of AS9100D requirements.
- Strengthen documentation, traceability, and revision control systems.
- Ensure compliance for:
- Process sheets and setup documentation
- CNC program control and revision management
- First Article Inspection (FAI)
- Non-conformance management and CAPA
- Risk-based process control
- Support internal audits, customer audits, and certification audits.
- Train shop personnel on aerospace documentation discipline.
4. Team Development & Future Expansion (Strategic Priority)
Build a scalable and high-performance machining team.
- Develop structured training programs.
- Create succession plans and identify high-potential talent.
- Implement skill matrices and cross-training initiatives.
- Lead recruitment to support expansion plans.
- Build future supervisors and shop leaders.
5. Continuous Improvement & Technology Advancement
- Implement Lean and Six Sigma methodologies.
- Reduce cycle times and scrap.
- Evaluate automation and advanced machining technologies.
- Support ERP/MES data-driven manufacturing systems.
6. Safety & Compliance
- Enforce all safety standards and regulatory compliance.
- Conduct safety reviews and risk mitigation planning.
- Maintain aerospace-grade discipline on the shop floor.
Qualifications & Experience
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical / Production Engineering.
- AS9100 Internal Auditor certification preferred.
- Lean / Six Sigma certification advantageous.
Experience
- 8–12+ years in CNC machining (aerospace/defence preferred).
- 3–5+ years leading medium-to-large machining teams.
- Proven experience in AS9100 implementation or upgrade.
- Experience preparing structured MIS reports for senior leadership.
Technical Skills
- CNC milling, turning, 4/5-axis machining expertise.
- Programming knowledge (NX, Mastercam, CATIA, etc.).
- Solid GD&T; proficiency.
- ERP/MRP system experience.
Pay: ₹1,000,000.00 - ₹2,400,000.00 per year
