Role Overview

Channeliam.com is looking for an experienced Desk Cheif/Chief Sub Editor – Business & Technology (Malayalam) to lead its Malayalam editorial desk. The ideal candidate should have excellent command of Malayalam, strong news judgment and a good understanding of business, technology, startups, the economy and public policy.

The role requires a digital-first editor who can transform complex developments into explicit, engaging and impactful stories for entrepreneurs, professionals and the general public.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead the day-to-day functioning of the Malayalam editorial desk.
- Edit, rewrite and proofread Malayalam news stories, features, interviews and video scripts.
- Ensure linguistic accuracy, editorial quality, clarity and consistency across all published content.
- Plan daily, weekly and special editorial content on business, technology, startups, MSMEs, innovation, the economy and national development.
- Identify relevant breaking news, emerging trends and exclusive story opportunities.
- Convert complex business and technology subjects into simple, audience-friendly Malayalam content.
- Write and edit strong headlines, thumbnails, captions and social-media copy.
- Verify facts, figures, names, designations and sources before publication.
- Coordinate with reporters, content writers, video producers, designers and digital-media teams.
- Assign stories, monitor deadlines and ensure timely publication across digital platforms.
- Adapt English reports, press releases and research documents into original Malayalam news stories—not merely direct translations.
- Develop scripts for news videos, explainers, interviews, reels and Channeliam’s special editorial programmes.




- Optimise articles and video content for search engines, social-media reach and audience engagement.
- Track content performance and use audience insights to improve editorial planning.
- Guide and mentor junior sub-editors, reporters and Malayalam content writers.
- Maintain Channeliam.com’s editorial standards, credibility and nation-building development perspective.
- Ensure that all content follows journalistic ethics, copyright requirements and platform guidelines.
- Use newsroom technology and AI-assisted editorial tools responsibly to improve speed and efficiency without compromising accuracy.

Required Qualifications

- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Journalism, Mass Communication, Malayalam, English, Economics, Business Studies or a related discipline.
- Minimum 7–10 years of editorial experience in a newspaper, television newsroom, digital media platform or business publication.
- At least 2–3 years of experience in a senior editorial or team-lead role is preferred.
- Excellent command of written and spoken Malayalam.
- Strong working knowledge of English and the ability to understand English-language business and technology reports.
- Sound understanding of business, startups, MSMEs, finance, technology, innovation, government policies and economic developments.
- Proven experience in editing digital news content, video scripts and social-media copy.

Pay: ₹30,000.00 - ₹35,000.00 per month
