Job Title: Assistant Professor
Department: Computer Science
Reports To: Head of the Department / Principal
Location: Madurai Sivakasi Nadars Pioneer Meenakshi Women's College, Poovanthi - 630611, Sivaganga District.

Job Purpose

The Assistant Professor of Computer Science is responsible for delivering high-quality teaching, mentoring students, conducting research, supporting departmental academic activities, and contributing to the overall academic development of the institution.

Job Responsibilities

A. Teaching and Academic Responsibilities

- Teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Computer Science and related areas as assigned.
- Prepare lesson plans, course materials, presentations, and practical laboratory exercises.
- Deliver effective classroom, laboratory, and technology-enabled instruction.
- Use creative and student-centered teaching methodologies.
- Conduct internal tests, assignments, quizzes, practical examinations, and other assessments.
- Evaluate student performance and provide constructive feedback.
- Maintain attendance and academic records accurately.
- Complete the prescribed syllabus within the stipulated academic schedule.

B. Student Mentoring and Development

- Act as a mentor and provide academic guidance to students.
- Identify students' learning difficulties and provide appropriate support and remedial instruction.
- Guide students in mini-projects, major projects, assignments, and practical work.
- Encourage students to participate in coding competitions, hackathons, technical events, seminars, and conferences.
- Support students in developing programming, analytical, problem-solving, communication, and employability skills.
- Assist in career guidance, internship, and placement-related activities.

C. Laboratory and Technical Responsibilities





- Conduct practical sessions in programming, database management, networking, web development, software engineering, and other relevant areas.
- Ensure effective utilization of computer laboratory facilities.
- Assist in maintaining computer hardware, software, networks, and other technical resources.
- Keep practical records and laboratory documentation updated.
- Recommend suitable software, tools, and technological resources required for academic purposes.

D. Research and Professional Development

- Engage in research activities in relevant areas of Computer Science.
- Publish research papers in reputed journals and conferences.
- Participate in seminars, conferences, workshops, FDPs, and professional development programmes.
- Pursue Ph.D. and other relevant professional certifications, where applicable.
- Contribute to research projects, consultancy, patents, and innovation initiatives.

E. Departmental Responsibilities

- Participate actively in departmental meetings and academic planning.
- Assist the Head of the Department in curriculum implementation and departmental activities.
- Prepare course files, teaching materials, academic records, and other required documentation.
- Participate in examination duties, valuation, invigilation, and other institutional responsibilities.
- Support the organization of seminars, workshops, guest lectures, conferences, technical events, and student activities.
- Contribute to IQAC, NAAC, and other quality enhancement initiatives.

F. Industry and Skill Development





- Develop industry-relevant knowledge and skills in emerging areas of Computer Science.
- Facilitate internships, industrial visits, technical training, and industry interaction.
- Encourage students to pursue relevant professional certifications.
- Organize hands-on training programmes on current technologies and software tools.

Required Qualifications

- Master's Degree in Computer Science / Computer Applications / Information Technology or a relevant discipline with the required minimum percentage as prescribed by applicable regulatory and university norms.
- NET / SET or Ph.D. qualification as applicable under prevailing UGC / affiliating university / regulatory norms.
- Candidates with specialization in emerging areas such as Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Science, Cyber Security, Cloud Computing, Internet of Things, Full-Stack Development, or related fields may be preferred, depending on departmental requirements.

Experience

- Teaching experience at the higher education level is desirable.
- Freshers who meet the prescribed eligibility criteria may be considered as per institutional and regulatory norms.
- Experience in research, programming, project guidance, and industry-relevant technical skills is an advantage.

Essential Skills

- Strong knowledge of Computer Science fundamentals.
- Programming skills in relevant languages such as Python, Java, C, C++, or other appropriate languages.
- Knowledge of databases, web technologies, software development, and computer networks.
- Good communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to use ICT- enabled teaching and Learning Management Systems.
- Student mentoring and classroom management skills.
- Research aptitude and willingness to engage in continuous professional development.

Pay: From ₹12,000.00 per month
