A Planning Engineer is responsible for project planning, scheduling, tracking progress, and ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare project schedules using tools like Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project
- Develop baseline schedules and monitor project progress
- Coordinate with site engineers, contractors, and management teams
- Track daily, weekly, and monthly project progress
- Identify delays and suggest corrective actions
- Prepare progress reports, MIS reports, and dashboards
- Monitor resource allocation (manpower, materials, equipment)
- Assist in cost estimation and budget tracking
- Ensure proper documentation of project activities
- Support project manager in planning and execution
Skills Required
- Strong knowledge of project planning and scheduling
- Good understanding of construction processes
- Proficiency in planning software (Primavera / MS Project)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Positive communication and coordination ability
- Knowledge of Excel and reporting tools
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering / Mechanical Engineering
- 2–5 years of experience in planning (for junior roles)
