Bus Maintenance Service Manager

The Bus Maintenance Service Manager oversees the preventive maintenance, mechanical repair, and diagnostic operations of the bus fleet.

They are responsible for optimizing shop productivity, ensuring safety standards, managing the maintenance budget, and minimizing vehicle downtime to keep transit operations running smoothly.

Key Responsibilities

Fleet & Operations Management

· Develop schedules: Establish and enforce preventive maintenance intervals (PM-A, B, and C)

· Minimize downtime: Streamline repair workflows to maintain maximum fleet availability

· Track logs: Oversee a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) for digital service history.

· Coordinate parts: Work with inventory teams to ensure critical components are in stock.

· Perform inspections: Conduct quality assurance spot-checks on completed mechanical work.

Team Leadership & Supervision

· Manage staff: Supervise, schedule, and assign work orders to diesel technicians and mechanics.

· Conduct training: Facilitate safety briefings and diagnostic training on recent bus technologies.

Monitor technician productivity, labor hours, and review payroll logs.

· Enforce safety: Ensure all shop personnel strictly follow OSHA and regional shop safety rules.

Compliance & Financial Accountability

· Ensure compliance: Maintain Department of Transportation (DOT) and regional transit authority standards.

· Oversee warranties: Process manufacturer warranty claims to recover parts and labor costs.

· Manage budgets: Develop and track annual expenditures for parts, tools, and labor.

· Audit documentation: Verify Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIR) and resolve flagged defects.

Technical Skills

- Mechanical knowledge: Deep familiarity with diesel engines, electrical systems, air brakes, and HVAC units.
- Software proficiency: Competence in fleet management software, CMMS platforms, and Microsoft Office.
- Industry regulations: Thorough understanding of local, state, and federal transit safety regulations

Pay: ₹25,000.00 - ₹40,000.00 per month
