Job Description: Assistant Transportation Manager

Location: Mumbai – Head Office
Role Overview
The Assistant Transportation Manager will be responsible for managing transportation
billing and transporter/vendor management activities. The role requires hands-on
experience in freight billing, invoice verification, transporter coordination, vendor
performance management, and resolution of transportation-related issues.
This is purely a transportation operations role. Candidates with experience limited only
to CFA, warehouse, or depot operations will not be considered.
Key Responsibilities
1. Transporter Billing & Reconciliation Manage and verify transporter invoices, freight rates, PODs, and supporting
documents. Handle billing discrepancies, deductions, claims, detention, demurrage, and
transporter reconciliations. Coordinate with transporters and internal teams to ensure accurate and timely
payment processing. Prepare and maintain MIS related to freight billing, outstanding payments, and
transportation costs.
2. Vendor Management Manage day-to-day coordination and relationships with transporters and
transportation vendors. Support vendor identification, evaluation, onboarding, and documentation. Monitor vendor performance, vehicle placement, service levels, and operational
KPIs.



Resolve transporter-related operational issues, billing disputes, claims, and
escalations. Support freight negotiations and transportation cost optimisation initiatives.
3. Transportation Operations & Performance Coordinate transportation activities to ensure smooth and timely movement of
goods. Monitor key transportation KPIs, including TAT, OTIF, vehicle placement,
detention, and transit adherence. Coordinate with Finance, Supply Chain, Warehouse, and other internal
stakeholders. Use TMS/GPS systems and Excel-based MIS for tracking and performance
management.
Qualifications & Experience Graduate/Postgraduate in any discipline. Relevant experience in transportation operations, preferably in FMCG, Food,
Beverages, or Consumer Goods. Hands-on experience in transporter billing and transport vendor management. Understanding of freight rates, invoice verification, reconciliation, claims, and
transportation KPIs. Good Excel skills and exposure to TMS/GPS/SAP or ERP systems. Robust communication, analytical, and stakeholder management skills.
