Position: Designer / Sr. Designer - Structural

Total Experience: 8-10 years of relevant experience

Edu: Diploma or IT in mechanical engineering

Location: Ahmedabad / Vadodara

The Structural Designer will be responsible for detailing, drafting, and 3D modeling of structural steel
components for water treatment plants and modular process systems. The role includes developing detailed
structural models, generating fabrication and erection drawings, coordinating with piping and civil teams, and
ensuring accurate documentation for fabrication and construction.

Primary Job Responsibilities, but not limited to the following:

• Perform detailing and drafting of structural steel components for water treatment systems including
preassembled skids, modules, pipe racks, platforms, and support structures.
• Develop advanced 3D structural models using TEKLA or AutoCAD & Revit, ensuring integration with
Autodesk Plant 3D designs.
• Extract accurate documentation, material take-offs (MTO),



and reports from structural models.
• Generate detailed drawings including General Arrangement (GA), fabrication/shop drawings, and
erection drawings.
• Utilize parametric modeling tools and custom components in Tekla to improve modeling efficiency
and consistency.
• Coordinate with piping design teams to ensure structural designs align with skid and module layouts.
• Work closely with Structural Engineers to detail modular pipe rack designs and integrate them into
overall plant engineering.
• Work in a collaborative BIM environment to support integrated plant design development.
• Prepare rigging and handling studies for assembled structural components and modules.
• Support the Applications / Proposal team in design inputs, BOQs, and estimation during FEED phases
such as FEL-2 and FEL-3.
• Prepare consolidated BOQs for structural steel components of the plant.
• Detail foundation bolt designs for equipment, pipe racks, and major structures.
• Prepare civil input drawings indicating foundation layouts, anchor bolt locations, and load
information.




• Conduct site visits when required to verify installation completeness and resolve design issues.

• Address design-related queries during construction, including preparation of as-built drawings or
modifications.
• Communicate effectively with internal teams, external consultants, vendors, and site teams.

Must-Have Skills
• Solid experience in structural steel detailing and drafting for industrial or plant projects.
• Proficiency in TEKLA Structures or Autodesk Revit for structural modeling.
• Knowledge of structural drawings such as GA drawings, fabrication drawings, and erection
drawings.
• Experience working in BIM-based collaborative design environments.
• Understanding of modular structures, pipe racks, skids, and support structures.
• Ability to prepare material take-offs (MTO) and BOQs from structural models.
• Good coordination skills to work with piping, civil, and engineering teams.
• Proficiency in MS Office and engineering documentation tools.

Good-to-Have Skills
• Experience in water treatment plants, EPC projects, or industrial process plants.
• Exposure to rigging and handling studies for modular structures.
• Understanding of foundation bolt layouts and civil interface drawings.
• Experience supporting FEED engineering and proposal estimation activities.
• Exposure to site engineering support and troubleshooting during construction.
