Job Description

Basic Function and Scope of Responsibilities (other duties as assigned):

Reporting to the 2nd Shift Leader, the incumbent sets up and operates the pellet mill/crumbles machine in accordance with established procedures and guidelines to produce pellets/products that meet ZBI quality standards and customer requirements.

Principal Responsibilities:

- Review daily production sheet and formula (s) paying attention to special instructions.
- Review MSDS sheets for ingredients being used and adhere to PPE protection that is required for processes that will be performed.
- Set up pellet mill and cooler following formula instructions.

A. Follow all lockout/tag-out procedures prior to set up of die and knife-blade performing visual check of knife blades.

B. Attach the appropriate die.

C. Set and adjust crumble rolls accordingly when applicable.

D. Check bagging bins.

- Run feed while constantly monitoring product for problems with quality.
- Complete production paperwork accurately for feed being run.
- Follow all safety procedures and policies with special attention to lock-out/tag-out procedures.
- Perform cleaning of conditioner and cooler following pre-established procedures to prevent cross contamination and for HACCP requirements.




- Will assist with bagging/receiving (to the extent of also being cross-trained in those areas for proficiency & ISO requirements.

Educational Requirements:

- High School Diploma or GED
- Must be able to read and write English language
- Will accept work experience in Ag or Mill industry

Training, Skills, Knowledge and/or Experience:

- Good problem-solving skills
- Mechanical Aptitude
- Understand basic quality concepts
- Ability to follow instructions
- Must be detail-oriented

Certifications:

- Certified to operate a forklift or willing to train to operate a forklift.

Supervisory Responsibility:

- No supervisory responsibility

Working Conditions

Physical surrounding: Basic computer knowledge, printer, scanner, and other machines as required.

Adverse working workplace:

Must be able to sustain daily exposure to dust, noise, heat, and cold.

Exposure to dangerous machinery and other hazardous conditions requiring safety adherence to PPE, safety rules, and procedures at all times.

Physical Effort:

Must be able to sit, stand, walk, climb, reach, and lift at least 25 Kgs on a continuous basis.

Must pass a job-related pre-employment physical and drug-alcohol screening.

Extensive Hours: Overtime work could be required based on production needs.
