Job Title: Mechanical Design Engineer – CNC Machine Tools

Location: Mysore, Karnataka

About the Role

We are looking for a skilled and innovative Mechanical Design Engineer to join our machine tool design team. The ideal candidate should have strong experience in mechanical design, machine tool development, 3D modeling, and manufacturing drawings. Experience in CNC Turning Centers, Machining Centers, or special-purpose machine design will be highly preferred.

Key Responsibilities

- Design and develop mechanical systems, assemblies, and sub-assemblies for CNC machine tools.
- Participate in customer discussions to understand technical requirements and develop design concepts and solutions.
- Create conceptual layouts, detailed designs, 3D models, and manufacturing drawings.
- Prepare and release production-ready drawings, BOMs, and engineering documentation.
- Work closely with production, assembly, application, service, and procurement teams throughout the project lifecycle.
- Coordinate with vendors and suppliers for component selection, technical discussions, and design optimization.
- Apply DFMA (Design for Manufacturing & Assembly) principles to improve manufacturability, assembly efficiency, and cost effectiveness.
- Ensure designs comply with quality, performance, safety, and manufacturing requirements.
- Perform design reviews, engineering calculations, tolerance analysis, and problem-solving activities.
- Support machine development, customization, upgrades, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Manage design deliverables, timelines, and project milestones.

Qualifications & Experience

- Diploma / BE / BTech / MTech in Mechanical Engineering.
- 5–10 years of experience in Mechanical Design, preferably in Machine Tool Manufacturing.




- Experience in CNC Turning Centers, Vertical Machining Centers (VMC), Horizontal Machining Centers (HMC), or special-purpose machines will be an added advantage.
- Candidates with slightly lower but highly relevant machine tool design experience may also be considered.

Technical Skills

- Robust knowledge of machine design, machine tool structures, sheet metal, castings, bought-out components, and mechanical systems.
- Hands-on experience in SOLIDWORKS for 3D modeling and assembly design.
- Expertise in creating detailed 2D manufacturing drawings.
- Thorough understanding of GD&T; (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing).
- Knowledge of bearings, ball screws, guideways, spindle systems, drives, hydraulics, pneumatics, and machine tool components.
- Familiarity with DFMA principles and engineering standards.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and project documentation.
