Experience: 8+ Years
Academics: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Mechatronics, or a related field.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
A. Reliability Test Strategy & Development
- Define Test Plans: Develop comprehensive Design Verification Plans (DVP&R;) and reliability test profiles tailored for power electronics, PCBs, and electro-mechanical systems.
- Accelerated Testing: Architect and execute Accelerated Life Testing (ALT), Highly Accelerated Life Testing (HALT), and Highly Accelerated Stress Screening (HASS) to simulate years of field operation in a fraction of the time.
- Environmental & Stress Testing: Define test protocols for thermal management, vibration, humidity, and electrical stress conditions (e.g., voltage surges, short circuits).
- Standards Compliance: Ensure all test methodologies align with global industry standards (e.g., IEC, IEEE, UL, CISPR for EMC).
B. Design & Risk Analysis
- DFMEA/FMECA: Facilitate and review Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA) to identify single-point failures and potential design risks early in the Current Product Development (NPD) lifecycle.
- Physics of Failure (PoF): Utilize PoF analysis to understand degradation mechanisms in power components (IGBTs, MOSFETs, capacitors) used in inverters.
- Life Modeling: Apply mathematical modeling and statistical methods (e.g., Weibull, Arrhenius models) to predict product life and estimate Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF).
C. Failure Analysis & Continuous Improvement
- Root Cause Analysis (RCA): Lead systematic problem-solving methods (e.g., 8D, Fault Tree Analysis/FTA)
to investigate lab and field failures.
- Corrective Actions: Define permanent corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) and evaluate the design changes to eliminate warranty issues.
- Field-to-Lab Correlation: Gather warranty and field data to correlate real-world usage profiles with lab test conditions.
D. Leadership & Consultation
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with hardware, firmware, and mechanical design teams to incorporate Design-for-Reliability (DfR) best practices.
- Technical Mentorship: Provide expert consultation to junior engineers and test technicians regarding test setups, data acquisition, and interpretation of results.
- Supplier Quality: Work with the procurement and supply chain teams to evaluate the reliability of critical electronic components and define supplier test requirements.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Mechatronics, or a related field.
- Experience: 8+ years of hands-on experience in reliability engineering, product testing, or hardware design within industrial automation, HVAC, or power electronics (Inverters/VFDs).
- Technical Skills:
– Deep understanding of power module physics, thermal dynamics, and control electronics.
– Proficiency with reliability software tools (e.g., ReliaSoft, Minitab) and statistical analysis.
– Familiarity with climatic chambers, vibration shakers, and power analyzers.
- Soft Skills: Excellent problem-solving skills, strong executive communication, and the ability to drive alignment across global teams.
