Lead AI Engineer Bangalore · Full-time · Hybrid

About the Role The Lead AI Engineer will lead the data-science workstream, building and enriching the semantic/context layer and developing AI agents. This role will work primarily on the consumption and enrichment side of the catalog, using existing Knowledge Catalog APIs, and will mentor the Senior Data Scientist. The goal is to enhance catalog content and drive data quality improvements.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead the development of the semantic/context layer and knowledge/context-management practices
- Use existing Knowledge Catalog APIs for discovery and context/knowledge management
- Build agents that enhance catalog content directly within Knowledge Catalog
- Monitor and improve the data quality of the context layer
- Design and apply an LLM-as-a-judge layer to validate agent outputs and catalog enrichments
- Lead the design and development of the program's AI agents
- Develop semantic-resolution/natural-language-to-context services for agent-mediated queries
- Define ML pipelines for entity resolution, semantic matching, and automated ontology/catalog enrichment
- Mentor the Senior Data Scientist and collaborate with Data Architects on catalog schema and query performance

Requirements

- Have 10+ years of experience in data science/ML engineering, with at least 3 years in a lead capacity




- Have hands-on experience consuming and enriching data catalogs/metadata platforms via APIs
- Have strong experience building LLM-based agents and agentic workflows
- Have experience with LLM-as-a-judge/evaluation, semantic search, and NLP/NLU
- Have production experience with knowledge graphs/ontologies - entity resolution, semantic matching, metadata enrichment
- Have strong hands-on skills with GCP Vertex AI and BigQuery, and ML pipeline orchestration
- Have experience monitoring data quality at scale - anomaly, drift, and consistency detection
- Be proficient in Python and graph/query languages

Valuable to Have

- Have experience with the credit/lending or broader financial-services domain
- Be familiar with GraphRAG, vector databases, and hybrid retrieval
- Have experience with LangGraph, the MCP protocol, or similar agent frameworks
- Hold a GCP Professional Machine Learning Engineer certification
