Job Title: Vice President Software Engineering

Our client is a leading global financial services organization with a strong focus on technology-driven innovation. The India Technology Center serves as a strategic extension of the global engineering organization, driving large-scale digital transformation, platform modernization, and enterprise technology initiatives.

The organization is expanding its engineering leadership team to support mission-critical platforms that power large-scale retirement and financial services solutions for millions of users.

The Purpose of This Role

As the Vice President - Software Engineering, you will define and execute the technology strategy, engineering roadmap, and delivery for a large-scale enterprise platform. You will lead high-performing engineering teams, drive modernization initiatives, and partner closely with global technology and business leaders to build secure, resilient, and scalable solutions.

This role requires an experienced, hands-on technology leader who combines strategic thinking with strong execution capabilities and can influence outcomes across a globally distributed engineering organization.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

- Define and execute the long-term technology strategy aligned with enterprise priorities.
- Adapt technology direction based on evolving business strategies and organizational priorities.
- Challenge conventional approaches and drive innovation through modern engineering practices.
- Champion cloud adoption, platform modernization, architectural simplification, and technology transformation.

Engineering Excellence

- Deliver high-quality, scalable, secure, and resilient enterprise platforms using modern engineering practices.
- Drive engineering excellence through CI/CD, automation, observability, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), and DevSecOps.
- Promote innovation and engineering productivity through modern development tools and AI-assisted engineering capabilities.




- Provide technology leadership across large-scale greenfield and brownfield transformation programs.
- Ensure enterprise architecture standards, governance, and technology compliance are consistently implemented.

Program & Delivery Leadership

- Lead large, business-critical technology initiatives from strategy through execution.
- Drive program governance, risk management, execution excellence, and measurable business outcomes.
- Ensure timely delivery through effective planning, stakeholder alignment, and execution oversight.

Stakeholder Management

- Build trusted partnerships with Product, Business, Enterprise Architecture, and Global Engineering teams.
- Communicate technology vision, strategy, risks, and recommendations effectively to both technical and executive stakeholders.
- Foster a collaborative, "One Team" culture across globally distributed teams.

People Leadership

- Lead multiple engineering teams while attracting, developing, mentoring, and retaining top engineering talent.
- Build an inclusive, innovative, and high-performance engineering culture.
- Develop future technology leaders through coaching and succession planning.

Operational Excellence

- Drive operational rigor, governance, compliance, and continuous process improvement.
- Monitor engineering KPIs and OKRs to improve delivery predictability, quality, platform reliability, and engineering velocity.

Experience Required

- 20+ years of progressive software engineering and technology leadership experience.
- Proven track record of leading large-scale enterprise engineering organizations and complex technology transformation programs.
- Experience driving cloud modernization, platform transformation, and mission-critical enterprise applications.
- MBA preferred but not mandatory.
