A marine marker (often titled a Ship Builder-Marker or Hull Scribing Technician) in shipbuilding is responsible for laying out, measuring, and scribing reference lines, structural locations, and cutting patterns directly onto metal plates and hull sections.
Core Responsibilities
- Reading Blueprints: Interpret complex isometric ship drawings, structural layouts, and engineering schematics.
- Layout & Scribing: Mark reference points, waterlines, and assembly locations on steel and aluminum plates using manual tools or specialized laser/optical systems.
- Quality Verification: Check measurements against structural design specs to ensure absolute alignment before cutting or welding begins.
- Team Coordination: Guide fabricators and welding technicians on alignment and sequence specifications.
Key Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum 3 to 10 years working within a shipyard or heavy marine manufacturing setting.
- Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in blueprint reading, geometric layout, and the use of precision measuring instruments.
- Safety Adherence: Strict compliance with international maritime and shipyard safety protocols.
Pay: ₹35,000.00 - ₹45,000.00 per month
