- Set up and operate Manual grinding machines like Surface or Cylindrical to produce precision parts like steel rolls, shafts, and other components according to blueprints and specifications.
- Monitor and adjust machine operations to achieve the desired dimensions and surface finish with a high degree of accuracy.
- Perform quality inspections on finished products using precision measuring instruments like micrometers, verniers, and bore gauges.
- Conduct routine maintenance and troubleshooting on the grinding equipment, including changing or dressing grinding wheels as needed.
- Ensure production targets are met while adhering to quality standards and safety protocols.
- Provide guidance to operators and resolve technical issues that arise during production.
Qualifications and skills
- Education:
An Industrial Training Institute (ITI) certificate or a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering is typically required for operator-level roles.
- Experience: Most jobs require 3-5years of hands-on experience in cylindrical grinding or Surface Grinding machining operations.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings.
- Knowledge of precision measuring instruments.
- Understanding of grinding principles, wheel selection, speeds, and feeds is often needed for more advanced roles or setting positions.
