Cafe Billing Staff / Cashier ​Position Type: Full-time / Part-time Reports To: Cafe Manager / Floor Supervisor Department: Front of House (FOH) / Operations ​Role Overview ​The Billing Staff / Cashier is a crucial point of contact at the cafe, responsible for managing counter transactions, accurately recording customer orders, and processing payments efficiently. You will ensure smooth cash flow, maintain clear communication between customers and the kitchen or bar staff, and provide a welcoming, efficient checkout experience. ​Key Responsibilities ​1. Order Taking & Billing Operations ​Greet customers at the counter with a friendly and helpful demeanor. ​Input customer food and beverage orders accurately into the Point of Sale (POS) billing software. ​Apply relevant discounts, promotional offers, combo deals, or loyalty reward points correctly. ​Issue clear, itemized bills/receipts to customers for every transaction. ​2. Cash Handling & Payment Processing ​Process transactions accurately using cash, credit/debit cards, UPI, digital wallets, or gift cards. ​Manage the cash register, count starting float cash, and ensure accurate change is returned to customers. ​Reconcile total daily sales with POS reports at the end of every shift and account for any register variances. ​Maintain strict adherence to cash-handling policies and safety procedures. ​3. Menu Knowledge & Upselling ​Maintain thorough knowledge of all menu items, including daily specials, beverage customization options,



and potential allergens. ​Suggest add-ons, popular menu pairings, specialty beverages, or desserts to enhance customer orders and drive sales. ​Answer customer inquiries regarding menu pricing, preparation times, and current promotions clearly. ​4. Communication & Coordination ​Relay special dietary requests, order modifications, or rush orders promptly to baristas and kitchen staff. ​Coordinate takeaway, drive-thru, or delivery app orders (if applicable) to ensure correct packing and timely handover. ​Address minor customer complaints or billing discrepancies calmly and escalate complex issues to the Shift Supervisor. ​Qualifications & Requirements ​Experience: 1+ years of experience as a Cashier, Billing Executive, or Counter Attendant in a café, restaurant, or retail environment preferred (freshers with good numerical skills welcome). ​Education: High school diploma, higher secondary certification, or equivalent. ​Technical Skills: Hands-on experience operating POS billing systems (e.g., Petpooja, Toast, Square, or similar restaurant management software) and card/digital payment machines. ​Basic Math: Robust basic arithmetic skills for fast and accurate cash calculation. ​Availability: Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends, evening shifts, and peak holidays.
