Job Description: Production Planning Manager

Reports to – Director of Operations

Job Summary

The Production Planning Manager is responsible for developing and executing production plans that balance

customer demand with manufacturing capacity while optimizing inventory, minimizing waste, and

maximizing operational efficiency. This role serves as the critical link between Sales, Procurement, Quality,

Engineering, and Factory Operations to ensure products are manufactured and delivered on time, in full, and

at the lowest possible cost.

Key Responsibilities

1. Master Production Planning & Scheduling

 Develop and maintain daily, weekly, and monthly Master Production Schedules (MPS) based on

demand forecasts, customer orders, and inventory targets.

 Translate sales forecasts into achievable production plans while considering production constraints.

 Plan manufacturing capacity by evaluating labour availability, machine utilization, and production

line capabilities.

 Optimize production sequencing to reduce changeover times, cleaning requirements, and downtime.

 Monitor schedule adherence and implement corrective actions to minimize production disruptions.

2. Capacity & Resource Planning

 Analyse factory capacity and identify potential bottlenecks.

 Coordinate production priorities to maximize line utilization and overall equipment effectiveness

(OEE).

 Balance production loads across multiple manufacturing lines.

 Ensure adequate labour and machine availability to meet production requirements.

3. Materials & Inventory Management

 Coordinate with Procurement to ensure timely availability of raw materials and packaging materials.

 Support Just-in-Time (JIT) inventory practices while maintaining production continuity.





 Monitor raw material shelf life and implement FEFO/FIFO practices to minimize waste.

 Maintain optimal inventory levels for raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods.

 Reduce inventory carrying costs without compromising customer service levels.

4. Cross-Functional Coordination

 Collaborate closely with Sales to understand demand fluctuations, promotions, and new product

launches.

 Coordinate with Engineering to schedule preventive maintenance activities.

 Work with Quality Assurance to incorporate sanitation schedules, quality holds, and compliance

requirements into production plans.

 Communicate production priorities and schedule changes to relevant stakeholders.

5. Performance Monitoring & Continuous Improvement

 Track and report key operational KPIs including:

o Schedule Adherence

o Production Attainment

o Line Utilization

o Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE)

o On-Time In-Full (OTIF)

o Forecast Accuracy

o Inventory Turns

o Waste and Scrap Reduction

 Identify planning inefficiencies and lead continuous improvement initiatives.

 Analyse production data and recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce

costs.

6. Compliance & Risk Management

 Ensure production plans comply with food safety regulations, GMP, HACCP, and company quality

standards.





 Support business continuity planning by proactively managing supply risks and production

constraints.

 Develop contingency production plans during equipment failures, material shortages, or demand

surges.

Qualifications

Education

 Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management/ BE/ B Tech/ Operations Management / Logistics,

Business Administration, or a related discipline.

Experience

 Minimum 5 years of experience in production planning, supply chain, or manufacturing planning

within a food manufacturing or FMCG environment.

 Proven experience managing production schedules in a high-volume manufacturing environment.

Certifications (Preferred)

 APICS CPIM (Certified in Planning and Inventory Management)

 APICS CSCP (Certified Supply Chain Professional)

 Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma certification is an advantage.

Pay: ₹85,000.00 - ₹90,000.00 per month
