About the Company:

We are a premium garment export house based in Tirupur, serving high-end international clients. Our focus is on delivering exceptional quality knitwear through innovation, sustainability, and efficient systems. We are looking for a Senior Fabric Expert (Knits) with strong technical expertise, deep mill connections, and a sharp eye for quality to lead our fabric function.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Fabric R&D; & Technical Development (Knits Only):

- Lead development of new knitted fabric structures (single jersey, interlock, rib, fleece, piqué, etc.).
- Recommend yarn types, blends, counts, and finishes based on buyer requirements and end-use.
- Guide development of special knits: organic cotton, mélange, slub, lycra blends, sustainable knits, etc.

2. Technical Fabric Management:

- Resolve technical challenges: shrinkage, GSM variation, spirality, shade variation, torque issues, pilling, etc.
- Implement strong technical SOPs from yarn to finished fabric (knitting, dyeing, compacting, finishing).
- Evaluate fabric performance and ensure bulk consistency in handle, appearance, and construction.

3. Fabric Sourcing & Mill Evaluation:

- Build and manage a strong network of knitting, dyeing, and finishing units across South India.
- Evaluate vendor capabilities technically before approvals (machines, capacity, technical controls).
- Negotiate technically-driven prices based on fabric specs and buyer expectations.

4. Quality & Compliance Control:





- Enforce quality standards: 4-point inspection, lab testing (shrinkage, colorfastness, pilling, bursting strength, etc.).
- Approve lab dips, bulk fabric, and handle all fabric-related buyer tech queries or rejections.
- Ensure compliance with GOTS, OEKO-TEX, and buyer testing standards for all knit fabrics.

5. Fabric Planning & Team Leadership:

- Coordinate with the Fabric Lot Incharge, Merchandising, Costing & Production teams for fabric planning.
- Track fabric movement, shade grouping, and roll-wise accountability using ERP
- Train and lead a team of junior fabric executives and QA to maintain high technical standards.

Key Requirements:

- Minimum 15 years’ experience in knit fabric technical management for export-oriented companies.
- Deep knowledge of knitting machines, GSM control, dyeing techniques, compacting, and finishing.
- Strong understanding of sustainable knits, yarn science, fabric costing, and fabric efficiency.
- Strong communication and documentation skills – English & Tamil preferred.
- Positive command over ERP systems and digital reporting.
- Must be hands-on, detail-oriented, and capable of vendor-level technical audits.
