Description

- Obtain and document patient assessment incorporating all available data and information.

- Plan and document a nursing care plan using the nursing process and set priorities of care.

- Deliver care using the nursing process; delegate and supervise care delivered by junior staff nurses.

- Evaluate each shift's nursing interventions and document; revise care plans as required.

- Participate in Nursing Quality Assurance programs.

- Identify unsafe care practices and contribute to corrective action.

- Take over from previous shift nurse and check bedside checklist items.





- Render nursing care to assigned group of patients (bed making, sponging, mouth care, back care, etc.).

- Observe and report symptoms and condition of patients to the doctor as and when necessary.

- Record TPR, BP; administer medications; note reactions; set up treatment trays.

- Co-ordinate with paramedical workers (Physiotherapists, Dieticians).

- Assist in admission, discharge, transfer in and transfer out of patients.

- Check inventory, CSSD items, dressing trolley, procedure trolley, crash cart and biomedical equipment each shift.

- Any other duty assigned from time to time.

- Be part of the Quality Improvement Initiative and protocols of the organization.
