Key Roles and Responsibilities

1. Student Counselling

Provide individual and group counselling sessions to students.

Help students manage stress, anxiety, emotional concerns, behavioural issues, and peer relationships.

Identify students requiring additional psychological or emotional support.

Maintain confidential counselling records and documentation.

2. Academic Guidance

Assist students in developing effective study habits and time management skills.

Support students facing academic difficulties.

Work with teachers to develop strategies for improving student performance.

3. Career Guidance

Conduct career awareness programmes and career counselling sessions.

Guide students in choosing suitable subject combinations and career pathways.

Organize career fairs, aptitude assessments, and interactions with professionals.

4. Social and Emotional Development

Conduct life skills education programmes.

Promote self-esteem, resilience, empathy, decision-making, communication, and leadership skills.

Organize workshops on emotional well-being, mental health, digital safety, and responsible behaviour.

5. Behaviour Management

Assist in addressing behavioural concerns and disciplinary issues through counselling.

Develop behaviour intervention plans in collaboration with teachers and parents.

Monitor progress and recommend appropriate interventions.

6. Parent Counselling

Conduct counselling sessions with parents regarding children's emotional, behavioural, and academic concerns.

Provide parenting guidance and support.

Organize awareness programmes on adolescent development, cyber safety, substance abuse prevention, and mental wellness.

7. Teacher Support





Guide teachers in identifying students with emotional or behavioural challenges.

Conduct teacher orientation programmes on classroom management and student well-being.

Collaborate in preparing individualized support plans where required.

8. Child Protection and Safety

Actively support implementation of POCSO guidelines and child protection policies.

Report concerns regarding child abuse, neglect, bullying, or harassment according to school policy.

Serve as a member of the Child Protection, POCSO, Anti-Bullying, and Wellness Committees.

9. Mental Health Promotion

Conduct awareness programmes on mental health.

Observe and identify students at risk of depression, anxiety, self-harm, or emotional distress.

Refer students to qualified psychologists, psychiatrists, or medical professionals whenever necessary.

10. Crisis Intervention

Provide immediate emotional support during emergencies or traumatic events.

Participate in crisis management and post-crisis recovery plans.

Coordinate with school authorities during emergencies.

11. Inclusive Education Support

Assist students with special educational needs in collaboration with special educators.

Recommend classroom accommodations and support strategies.

Participate in Individual Education Plan (IEP) meetings where applicable.

12. Record Keeping

Maintain confidential counselling records.





Prepare counselling reports, case summaries, and annual activity reports.

Maintain documentation required for CBSE inspections and audits.

13. Awareness Programmes

Organize programmes on:

Mental Health Awareness

Bullying Prevention

Cyber Safety

Stress Management

Exam Anxiety

Life Skills

Adolescence Education

Gender Sensitization

Substance Abuse Prevention

Child Rights and Responsibilities

14. Committee Responsibilities

The School Counsellor shall actively participate in:

POCSO Committee

Child Protection Committee

Anti-Bullying Committee

Inclusive Education Committee

Health and Wellness Committee

Discipline Committee

Disaster Management Committee (Student Support)

Qualifications

Master's Degree in Psychology, Counselling Psychology, Clinical Psychology, or Child Psychology.

Diploma/Certification in Guidance and Counselling (preferred).

Minimum 2 years of counselling experience in a school (preferred).

Excellent communication skills in English and Hindi.

Robust interpersonal, listening, and problem-solving skills.

Knowledge of CBSE guidelines relating to school counselling and student wellness.

As per school timings.

Pay: ₹14,610.64 - ₹42,234.17 per month
