Job Summary:
The Mechanical Testing Engineer is responsible for performing physical and mechanical tests on metal samples to evaluate their mechanical properties such as tensile strength, hardness, impact resistance, and bend properties. The role involves strict adherence to test methods and quality standards (e.g., ASTM, IS, ISO), ensuring accurate results, equipment upkeep, and report generation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct mechanical tests such as:
- Tensile test
- Hardness test (Rockwell, Brinell, Vickers)
- Impact test (Charpy/Izod)
- Bend, Flattening, and Compression tests
- Operate and maintain Universal Testing Machines (UTM), Impact testers, Hardness testers, etc.
- Ensure proper sample preparation according to test standards.
- Record, analyze, and interpret test results with high accuracy.
- Ensure proper calibration and maintenance of testing equipment.
- Follow relevant standards like ASTM, IS, ISO, BIS, etc.
- Maintain proper documentation of test procedures, results, calibration, and equipment logs.
- Assist in internal audits, inter-lab comparisons (ILC/PT),
and method development.
- Comply with NABL/ISO 17025 quality management system requirements.
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment in the testing area.
- Coordinate with customers/clients when necessary for sample clarification or result interpretation.
Requirements:
- Education: Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech. in Mechanical / Metallurgical Engineering.
- Experience: 2–5 years of relevant experience in mechanical testing in a metallurgical or materials testing lab.
- Technical Skills:
- Hands-on experience with UTM, hardness testers, impact testers, etc.
- Understanding of mechanical test standards and procedures.
- Familiar with quality management systems (ISO 17025).
- Soft Skills:
- Analytical mindset and attention to detail.
- Valuable communication and reporting skills.
- Ability to follow SOPs and meet deadlines.
Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹25,000.00 per month
