Job Description – Head of Freight Forwarding

Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Head – Freight Forwarding to lead and grow our PAN India Freight Forwarding business. The role is responsible for driving business growth, P&L; performance, sales, operations, customer experience, and compliance across Ocean Freight, Air Freight, Customs Brokerage, Project Logistics, and International Supply Chain Solutions.
Working closely with the COO, the incumbent will develop business strategies, strengthen strategic partnerships with shipping lines and overseas agents, and position the company as a preferred international logistics partner.
Key Responsibilities
Business Growth & Strategy
Develop and execute business growth strategies for the Freight Forwarding division.
Expand business across PAN India through new customers, trade lanes, and strategic partnerships.
Drive revenue, profitability, and market share growth.
Lead major RFQs/RFPs and commercial negotiations.
P&L; Management
Own the complete P&L; for the Freight Forwarding business.
Monitor revenue, gross profit, EBITDA, and operating costs.
Improve margins through effective pricing and procurement strategies.
Sales & Customer Development
Lead the national Freight Forwarding sales team.
Develop key accounts and acquire new business across domestic and international markets.
Strengthen relationships with exporters, importers, OEMs, and multinational customers.
Operations & Service Excellence
Oversee Ocean, Air, Import, Export, Customs Clearance, and Project Cargo operations.
Ensure operational efficiency, SLA compliance, and high customer satisfaction.
Drive process improvements and resolve critical operational issues.
Carrier & Partner Management
Build strategic relationships with shipping lines, airlines, NVOCCs, overseas agents, and logistics partners.
Negotiate competitive freight rates and ensure capacity availability.
Compliance & Leadership
Ensure compliance with Customs, DGFT, FEMA, GST, IATA, and international trade regulations.
Lead, mentor, and develop high-performing teams while fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
Reporting
Present regular MIS reports covering business performance, sales pipeline, profitability, operational KPIs, customer satisfaction, and business forecasts to the COO.

Qualifications
MBA in International Business, Logistics, Supply Chain, Marketing, or related discipline.
Graduate in Commerce, Engineering, or Management.
Export-Import or Supply Chain certifications will be an added advantage.
Experience
12–18 years of experience in Freight Forwarding and International Logistics.
Minimum 5 years in a leadership role with full P&L; responsibility.
Proven track record of scaling Freight Forwarding operations across PAN India.
Solid relationships with shipping lines, airlines, NVOCCs, overseas agents, customs brokers, and global logistics partners.
Pay: ₹100,000.00 - ₹200,000.00 per month
