Job Description – Senior Executive/Assistant Manager - Finance & Accounts

Location: Chennai, India
Experience: 10–12 years
Department: Finance & Accounts
Reporting to: Head of Finance & Operations / Management

Job Purpose

The Finance & Accounts Executive will be responsible for managing the company’s accounting, taxation, financial reporting, budgeting, audits, statutory compliance, cash flow and financial controls. The role requires experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment and coordination with global teams across India, the UK and the US.

Educational Qualification

- Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Finance or Accounting.
- CA Inter, CMA Inter, MBA Finance or M.Com is preferred.
- Professional certification in taxation, financial reporting or internal auditing will be an advantage.

Roles and Responsibilities

Accounting and Financial Reporting

- Manage day-to-day accounting operations, including the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable and bank accounting.
- Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and annual financial closing.
- Prepare balance sheets, profit and loss statements, cash-flow statements and management reports.
- Review journal entries, provisions, accruals, prepaid expenses and account reconciliations.
- Maintain the fixed-asset register and oversee capitalisation and depreciation.
- Ensure proper accounting of inventory, work-in-progress, finished goods and manufacturing costs.
- Coordinate intercompany accounting and reconciliation across India, UK and US entities.

Taxation and Statutory Compliance

- Manage GST registration, invoicing, input tax credit reconciliation, payments and return filing.
- Ensure correct TDS deduction, payment, return filing and issuance of certificates.
- Coordinate corporate income-tax computations, advance-tax payments and annual tax filings.
- Ensure compliance with professional tax, PF, ESIC and other applicable statutory requirements.
- Monitor changes in taxation and financial regulations and implement necessary process updates.
- Coordinate with tax consultants and government authorities regarding notices, assessments and compliance matters.
- Maintain supporting records for GST, TDS, income tax and other statutory audits.

Budgeting and Financial Planning

- Prepare annual budgets, forecasts and departmental financial plans.




- Monitor actual expenditure against budgets and report significant variances.
- Prepare product costing, project costing and profitability analysis.
- Support management with financial analysis for investments, pricing and business decisions.
- Monitor working capital, cash flow and funding requirements.

Banking and Treasury

- Manage bank accounts, payments, receipts and bank reconciliations.
- Prepare short-term and long-term cash-flow forecasts.
- Coordinate foreign remittances and ensure compliance with applicable FEMA and banking requirements.
- Maintain relationships with banks and support credit facility and working-capital documentation.

Internal Controls and Audit

- Develop and maintain effective financial policies, procedures and internal controls.
- Ensure proper segregation of duties and adherence to the approval matrix.
- Coordinate statutory, internal, tax and bank audits.
- Maintain accurate documentation and audit trails.
- Identify financial risks, control gaps and process-improvement opportunities.
- Support ISO 9001, ISO 27001 and other applicable compliance requirements.

Team and Stakeholder Management

- Lead, guide and review the work of the Finance and Accounts team.
- Coordinate with HR, procurement, supply chain, manufacturing, sales and project teams.
- Work closely with global finance and leadership teams.
- Ensure timely collection of financial information from all departments.
- Provide financial guidance to department heads and budget owners.

Technical Skills Required

- Strong knowledge of Indian Accounting Standards and generally accepted accounting principles.
- Practical experience in GST compliance, including GSTR-1, GSTR-3B, annual returns, reconciliations and input tax credit.
- Knowledge of TDS calculations, deductions, payments, quarterly returns and Form 16/16A.
- Understanding of corporate income tax, advance tax, professional tax, PF, ESIC and other statutory obligations.
- Experience in accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger and fixed-asset accounting.
- Knowledge of import/export accounting,



customs duties, foreign remittances and foreign exchange transactions.
- Experience in budgeting, forecasting, cash-flow management and variance analysis.
- Familiarity with transfer pricing, intercompany transactions and international accounting coordination.
- Experience supporting statutory, internal, tax, bank and ISO audits.
- Proficiency in ERP/accounting systems such as SAP, Oracle, Tally, Zoho Books or equivalent.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools.

Authority

The Finance & Accounts Executive will have the authority to:

- Review and approve accounting entries, reconciliations and financial schedules within the approved delegation matrix.
- Approve routine vendor payments and employee reimbursements within authorised limits.
- Return or reject incomplete, incorrect or non-compliant financial documents.
- Place payments on hold where supporting documents, approvals or statutory requirements are incomplete.
- Request financial information and supporting documents from all departments.
- Recommend budgets, provisions, write-offs, payment priorities and cost-control measures.
- Escalate financial, taxation, compliance and internal-control risks to management.
- Coordinate directly with auditors, banks, consultants and statutory authorities with management approval.
- Recommend improvements to financial systems, controls and approval processes.
- Allocate responsibilities and review performance within the Finance and Accounts team.
